Xavier's POV
It was five minutes to nine when I got home.
When I got inside the packhouse I fully expected that my parents were waiting to give me a good scolding, especiallyy dad since I disobeyed him, but I was surprised when I walked by the kitchen and saw my mom talking with aunt Cindy and aunt Louren.
"Xavier, you're home." She greeted.
"Hey mom." I said. Smiling towards my aunts. "Is uhh-"
I was caught off when I heard footsteps, slowly coming down and stairs.
I inwardly gulped when I saw my dad. Waiting for him to just suddenly start scolding me about not listening to him but then he gave me a light pat on my shoulder before heading in the kitchen.
"How was school?? Did you have dinner yet?" He asked while getting himself a glass of water.
"Uhhh....." I was a bit lost at that point.
"Lucas told me that you went to help your friend Francis with an assignment. And that you were going to his house." Dad added before turning to look at me. "Is that true?"
"Y-Yeah. He's still a bit behind in class after being missing for so long. So I uhh... Our teachers gave him some special assignments to help him catch up and wanted me to help him out since we're friends." I managed to make it up. Hoping that it was at least convincing enough for my parents.
"Well I don't see the harm in that. After the ordeal that he's been through, he needs the help." Mom pointed out. "And besides. He and his sister kept our world a secret from the other humans. The least you could do is help him with school work."
Dad still didn't look that convinced, but soon caved cause of my mom's words as he sighed out. "As long as you and the others are careful. You know what's going on right now. We still have no concrete idea as to what our enemy's plans are. And add to that the whole issue with the hunters."
"Don't worry dad. We're being careful." I assured him. Feeling a bit guilty since I had already basically disobeyed him by being with Diane.
Dad nodded his head. "I bet that you're tired so get changed so you can rest."
"And if you're still hungry, we still have some leftovers from dinner. Just heat it up in the microwave." Mom quickly added.
"I will. Thanks." I said before heading up the stairs.
"I can't believe that we're not in trouble." Ilios chirped in. Feeling relieved as well as I was.
"Me too. But did you hear what dad said?" I asked.
"About what?"
"He said that Lucas told him that I went to Francis's house." I pointed out.
"Well that's good right?"
"I guess.. but-" I didn't finish what I was going to say cause I saw Lucas walking down the hallway towards my direction.
"Hey Luke, can I talk to you?" I tried to ask him but was ignored when he just passed by me without even a mere glance.
"Lucas." I called out to him again, and this time he stopped. "What's wrong?"
"What's wrong?" He scoffed. Repeating what I said as if he couldn't even believe that I asked him. "I know where you went to after school Xavier. Or should I say, I know who you were with."
"Why can't you just follow the one thing that dad told you to do?" He added. "Do you know the amount of danger that you just put everyone in? What if her dad finds out what you are?"
