'On behalf of the Sword of Logos, I would like to deeply apologize.'
Standing in a big supermarket parking lot, I stare into the book-shaped smartphone. Earlier, the green swordsman, Ren, had somehow managed to see through the Trick Book. I thought I was a goner, until he shoved his weird phone to my face. Through the screen, the scary swordman, who introduced himself as Shindai Ryouga, pretty much begs me to listen to him.
'The false accusation and judgement put upon your grandfather, were purely a result of our misconduct.....'
'Are you....admitting that Grandpa wasn't a traitor?'
'Indeed. The true traitor, The last Master Logos was brought to justice eight years ago. '
'Master Logos....' I mumble, processing the information.
'We have tried to contact the Kamio Clan a few times, but we never get an answer,' he pauses. 'It may sound like an excuse, but it it the truth.'
'Yea...My Dad...doesn't want anything to do with...all of this.'
'I see. Then, how about you?'
'Me?'
'Would you cooperate with us?' Hearing no reply from me, he continues. 'Honestly, we don't want to involve a civilian, but right now, you are our only option. Of course we won't ask for the impossible. We just need you to answer some questions.'
My head...is full. With everything that has happened this evening, I don't think that I can think anymore. I still don't know whether I can trust them fully or not. I'm tired. I just want this to end already. I look ahead, and my gaze meet Ren's. Then, as if the day can't get any worse, a few drops of water fall onto my head. It's starting to rain.
'Fine, I'll cooperate....' I start answering when a few happy gasps comes out of the phone. 'But not here!' I interrupt them before they can say anything. 'It's starting to rain here, so..I....I'll tell Ren after I got home.'
That's how I ended up back home, drenched, with a very grumpy Ren. As expected, he is a difficult man. He argues about everything I tell him to do, like taking the shower, and wearing the only clothes I owned that fits him. However, I have a feeling that he might be kinder than I thought. I mean, despite his displeased grunts, he still helped me with dinner.
'Itadakimasu!' I clap my hands together before digging in.
'What's this?'
'Hm?' I quickly swallow my food. 'Shimeji mushroom.'
'Seriously? Who puts mushroom in gyudon?'
'Well....I'm not really good with cooking veggies, so....I just put them in whatever dish I'm making.'
'That explains the spinach in miso.'
'Ren-san.....do you...not like veggies?'
'Hah? Of course not.'
I wasn't lying when I said that I'm not good with veggie dishes, but I also have another reason. Even though I've prepared some marinated pork, I don't have enough for two. I just hope that it tastes alright. As I steal glances towards him, I can see him taking his first bite. He chews slowly before taking another bite, and then another. Before I know it, he's already gobbling it up.
'We have some more, so eat as much as you want.'
'Nevermind that,' he dismisses me as he scoops some more rice into his bowl. 'Aren't you supposed to answer some questions?'
'Oh yea....well...ask away.'
'That woman.' His eyes turn serious. 'Who is she?'
'Oh, I don't know that one.'
