Goodbyes are never easy, especially under circumstances that are ambiguous at best. Still, Izzy considered her farewell more composed than expected.
Laura had been surprised when Jasper hugged her tight as she came home. He had told her about a family emergency in Italy that required his and his family's immediate presence for awhile. He had explained it so well that even Izzy was impressed and by the end of their conversation her mother had been the one to hug him tight. She had been rather emotional when the two had walked out the door to say their final goodbyes.
Silently, with Izzy grasping onto her boyfriend's arms with more strength than necessarily required, they'd gone into the forest. Once safely canopied amongst the foliage, the rest of the family had appeared. Not much had been said, just tight embraces and whispers of safety and wellbeing.
Izzy was hugging Edward, telling him to take care of himself and to not be overdramatic in-front of the immortal royal family, when the immortal had stiffened in her arm. Izzy's bewilderment hadn't lasted long when he'd muttered that her "friends" had arrived.
Sure enough, moments after she'd let Edward go, stepping back to her place besides Jasper, the wolves made their appearance. It would appear that even more of them had decided to make it to the farewell committee this time.
No longer obstructed by the cover of night, Izzy could see them clearly. She had to physically stop herself from gasping at the sheer size, that felt amplified by their number. Jacob had transformed in front of her before and while shocking, it was still Jacob with his warm gaze and playful nature. Now, before her stood beasts, with their massive forms and snapping jaws. They were creatures that would make up nightmares.
"Hey guys." Izzy gave a weak wave, fully aware of the mutual hostility.
"We'll be leaving now darlin." Just like that, all of Izzy's attention was back on Jasper.
Without much thought, she hugged him, pulling away just enough to kiss him squarely on the mouth. It was her way of expressing her love, putting all her love and affection into the gesture, no amount of growling could ruin the moment for them.
Jasper, to his credit was as engrossed as she was, feeling and reciprocating everything. It would be awhile before they would be able to bask in each other's presence.
"Be safe and be careful." Were their parting words and beneath the surface was an even stronger message I love you.
Izzy watched them leave, fully aware that if they wanted to they could've just disappeared but it was gentler this way. She could look at their backs, anchor herself just enough for when they were out of sight she wouldn't lose herself to despair.
It took her a minute to turn to the wolves.
"So...what do we do now."
Jacob the wolf snorted at her nonchalance and while she didn't know what he was thinking, it would be against the norms of their friendship if she didn't respond anyway
"What? Am I just supposed to stare at your glossy mane and pearly whites? even then, the silver dude has better fur than you- very pretty"'she turned to the wolf standing besides the ginormous black one who she suspected was Sam " whoever you are- it's a very unique colour.
The silver wolf stared at her for awhile before eventually giving her a nod as if agreeing with her.
Jacob walked out of sight heading deeper into the foliage. Izzy watched him go- curbing the uncertainty she felt when the last familiar face left her line of sight by turning to the rest of them
"Do you think he took that personally? " a casual shrug "I just stated an opinion. I never knew he's be that sensitive about his fur.
How do you handle the jealousy silver dude?"
