I also fell in love once.
It was the 2 years before Willow and Mason met,
with one of his friends, what a coincidence, right? His name was Maverick, he was in 10th grade at that time, i was starting the 9th grade.
We would always look at eachother in the hallways, atleast, i start doing it after i noticed he was staring at me most of the time.
But one time, he approached me, and he started talking to me. I went with the flow and responded to all of his questions. I was just a teenager, and he looked beautiful, smelled beautiful and had this seductive deep voice. I fell for all of that.
We soon turned into a cute couple, he also made me know more people, older ones, and they were all so funny to be with. I often hang out with them, inviting Willow with me.
Mason was in that group too, but who knows why he didn't notice her at that time. With months passing, he became more and more distant, still kissing me and buying me flowers, but i could feel something was odd in his behavior.
One day, i was in Austin, in South Congress Avenue, window shopping with my mom. I was actually trying to find a gift for Maverick, since our 2 years anniversary was approaching, and i wanted to gave him something really special that he was looking to get for a really long time: a Nintendo Wii.
That was the perfect idea, we could have played with it togheter! I was so excited to try it out with him!
Me and my mom soon approached the games shop and got in. It was big and so colorful, everything on the self was eye-catching, and probably i would have gotten out of there with something for me too.The Nintendo Wii was the current trend, and we could easily find it, since it was right near the entrance. But i needed a good game to go with it, so i went to the second floor to get one.
Before going to pay, i looked one last time down to the first floor, and what i saw broke my heart.
Maverick was there, he looked happy. He had a Nintendo Wii box in his hands, and was kissing the person in front of him, who had supposedly bought it for him.
It wasn't his dad, neither his mom, but a girl.
That day, before our second anniversary, i discovered that he was hanging out with another girl, god knows for how long.Just to clear things out, i called him on our anniversary:
"Hello Maverick, how are you?"
"Hey babe, why you speaking like that?"
"Mmh nothing, how is your day going"
"Going great, actually, why?"
"So you forgot it?"
"Forgot what baby?"
"Our anniversary"
"Of course i didn't, 1 year passed so fast didn't it?
"You can't even distinguish me from that other girl..."
"What other girl? What are you talking about?"
"This was our second year togheter, Maverick. I saw her getting you that Nintendo Wii, i was there that day to buy it for you, but i placed it down once i saw you kissing her.. you suck, Maverick, don't ever speak to me again."
I didn't even let him time to respond to me, i just hanged up from the fury.
At school, he obviously tried to stop me multiple times, but of course it was over with him for me.
But he wasn't over with me.He followed me everywhere. To the lessons, watching me trough the windows, calling me every second, watching me in the pool and in my house.
He was freaking me out, he was so creepy.
I told my mom and all the precautions were taken, i never saw him again from that day.Him stalking me was traumatizing, but i didn't think i would end up doing the same thing to one of his friends.
The breeze is going trough my hair and sending it all over my face, but i'm too distracted too observe Mason trough the window to get it off my face. He's on the sofa, sleeping and the tv is on the news channel.
The next day, he drove to his parents house. They are sit around the table, a cup of coffee in their hands. They must be saying something really funny, because eveyone is laughing it off.
Exept there's nothing to laugh about, when your wife is reported missing. The next few days i followed him again and talked with his friends more than once. He went to the gym, to work, and to the lake fishing, but one thing i noticed, is that he really couldn't stop going to that market, open 24/7, near my workplace.
He didn't come out with any shopping back, he went there browsing, or maybe to meet with someone. His car is nowhere to be seen. All the times i followed him, he was always walking.
Before disappearing, Willow told me about that red stain on his car.
Could it be blood? Maybe that's why he isn't bringing it anywhere, fearing someone could be suspicious about that.
It's in the garage, but it's impossible for me to get in if i don't get inside the house, and i don't think he's going to let me in.One thing everyone always does to get things off their faces is to throw them in the trash.
It could be a little late to find anything important, but it's worth a try.
So, while Mason is occupied in his daily browsing at the supermarket, i reach the trash bins next to the house to try and find something important.Thankfully, i do.
After opening the black bag i notice what looks like a book, but ash it's all over it, he tried to burn it!
I take it out, the writing is mostly illegible, but something catches my eye on the first page.
it says: "Wilo's diary"She never told me about any secret diary... and why would she sign the book with the name I always called her since we were teenagers?
What if she wanted me to read it, because she knew something was going to happen to her?
I take the book away with me, i need to examine what she wrote, page by page. The content of the book, even if half burnt, it's really clear.
Willow has been investigating on her husband business for months before her disappereance.
