Naruto watched from a far off tree as Team 7 learned the basics for the tree climbing exercise. Sakura got the exercise almost instantly. Sasuke was struggling which filled the blond with some gratification. Sasuke was arrogant and kind of a jerk. Something Naruto couldn't understand.
Konohamaru was also struggling. He kept falling down but never gave up. Always having a smile on his face and giggling to himself. For some reason Naruto couldn't take his eyes off the other boy. Though he couldn't understand why.
Watching his almost little brother watch the Shinobi made Tanjiro smile. There wasn't an aura of superiority or anything. Though he did notice his eyes were lingering a bit, "Hey Naruto. Want to train some?"
Tanjiro could almost feel the smile behind that mask. Jumping down he ran to Tanjiro, "Heck yeah! Think I can learn water breathing?!" Tanjiro gave a nervous laugh, "Well let's check your affinity first. I don't know if I'm allowed to train you in a breathing technique."
Crossing his arms Naruto pouted a bit, "Fine. I'vs gotten faster so you won't beat me as easily Tanjiro!"
Both boys stood on the water. A bokken in hand as they faced off. Tsunami who was watching noticed how fit both boys were. For children they were incredibly muscular. Naruto was lean and still looked like a boy. While Tanjiro 's muscle was massive for his age. His boyish face not matching his torso and arms.
In an instant they moved. The space between them shortened as they're practice blades met. Naruto quickly slid back before throwing in a powerful thrust. Tanjiro was fast though, deflecting and striking back.
Going on the offensive Tanjiro began random and fast strikes at Naruto's body attempting to gain the advantage. Naruto though had gotten quicker. Deflecting and parrying rapidly.
Naruto spun deflecting Tanjiro 's blade. Bringing his blade down on the opening to hit the other boys shoulder. Tanjiro though at the last minute jumped backwards to avoid the attack. Both boys smiling at one another. Naruto's mask may have hid it but his blinding smile could be seen throughout his body.
Kakashi watched from not far off. The boys moved again. This time increasing their speed. Pulling his head band up he could see the movement of chakra around their bodies. It was a technique similar to a chakra cloak. Though not entirely the same. They were fast. Even giving his eye a hard time at keeping up. Their strikes when landing sent small shock waves through the water.
Watching the blond he still felt familiar. Something about him was reminiscent of someone. Watching closer, as the boys used up more chakra he saw a mark appear on his stomach around his belly button. It looked like a seal of some sort.
Realization kicked in, "Was this Naruto?" He thought. Kakashi's mind went racing as he watched them fight. There was no way this kid was Naruto. He heard that the Jinichuriki could barely mold chakra. This kid was a beast in chakra control. His skills and power output was even more impressive.
Heading back to his team, he didn't drop the swordsman from his mind. However he didn't have time to dwell on it. He failed Naruto. If Kakashi had been better then the kid would still be around. No, he'll live with the fact he failed his sensei and not get false hope over some random soldier.
Later into the day Sasuke and Konohamaru sat at the bottom of the trees. Both are dirtied from trying over and over again since Kakashi and Sakura left. The Sarutobi looked up to see a still shirtless Kyat walking up to them. He had water from the house for both the boys.
Feeling his face warm up he tried hiding in his scarf, "Hey guys you okay?" The swordsman head tilted slightly.
"What do you care?" Sasuke asked as he stood up and looked at the tree. Naruto though just gave a good hearted chuckle, "Well Tsunami-sama was worried so I thought I'd bring you both water."
