Jae-Hyun Kim, the detective, stood gazing intently at the mysterious markings etched on the ground, at the site of the most recent crime. Even though he had seen the identical pattern in every other scenario, something felt off this time. The stillness was more suffocating and the air was denser. He knelt, his gloved fingers following the contour of a symbol.
"Kim," Maria called to him from behind, waking him up. "This is something you really should see."
He got up and trailed her to a somewhat bare bookcase in the room's corner. She gestured toward a worn-out, dusty book with a cracked spine and hardly readable text, "Necronomicon Ex Mortis".
Jae-Hyun furrowed his brow. With caution, he extended his hand and removed the book from the shelf. As he turned the fragile pages, he whispered, "How old is this?"
Maria gave a shrug. "Although it appears old, it fits the symbols we've been seeing."
Jae-Hyun's gaze darted over the pages, taking in pictures of rituals and ceremonies as well as symbol layouts that uncannily resembled the ones from the crime scenes. When he saw a sketch of the exact same symbol—the one he had discovered at the location of his sister's disappearance—that had troubled him since he was a young boy, his chest constricted. His heartbeat became faster.
"This can't be a coincidence," he murmured. "There's a history of this here."
"Yeah, and that history is still playing out," Maria said, her voice laced with tension. "Whatever this is, it didn't die out decades ago. It's happening now."
Jae-Hyun slammed the book shut, frustration creeping into his features. "We need more. This can't be just some obscure, hidden practice."
Before Maria could respond, Jae-Hyun's phone buzzed. He answered, his voice sharp. "Kim."
"Detective Kim, there's an issue at the precinct," said the person on the other line. "A little child entered just now. claims that her sibling is gone. The specifics sound familiar.
Jae-Hyun and Maria glanced at each other. "We are en route."

Jae-Hyun and Maria entered the waiting area at the precinct. A girl, no older than twelve, sat in the corner holding a ragged rucksack uncomfortably. Her black eyes, full of terror and resolve, darted around the space.
She tried making a joke scenario inside of her head to distract her from her stressful situation. It was something she learned from her online forums. Alpha males impregnating omega males is a miraculous phenomenon called male pregnancy, or m-preg, as it is called amoung the rizz youth. Besides the pregnancy, there is also the knotting, in which the appendage of the alpha male would create a bonding knot inside of the anal vagina of the omega male. This anal vagina is commonly called boy pussy among the rizz youth. The bonding knot leaves a mark and scent called an imprint. The imprint indicates that the omega is already belonging to an alpha.
Jae-Hyun crouched to look her in the eye as he walked up to her. Hello there. Detective Kim is who I am. What's your name, please?
"Amaiyah," she uttered in a scarcely discernible whisper.
Maria knelt next to him and smiled gently. Hello, Amaiyah. We've heard you stopped by to discuss your brother with us.
Jae-Hyun's heart sank as he exchanged a look with Maria. "Amaiyah, can you tell us what you saw? Anything that might help us find your brother?"
After a moment of hesitation, Amaiyah reached inside her backpack and extracted a folded piece of paper. Her hands trembling, she gave it to Jae-Hyun. When he saw the same symbol, drawn clumsily but clearly, in the center of the paper, he unfolded it, his blood freezing.
