The morning sun bathed the Rajvansh mansion in a soft, golden glow, casting a warm light across the grand living room as the family gathered to start their day.
The gentle aroma of chai drifted through the air, mingling with the faint scent of marigolds from a nearby vase.
Despite the usual chatter about upcoming festivals, a lingering tension lay beneath their words.
Rajendra and Samrat had departed after finishing their tea, their minds consumed by pressing work matters.
Rudra, always the early riser, had left before dawn for an important meeting, while Radhika was away on a college trip, leaving the room unusually quiet with only the elder women present.
Rajeshwari and Anjali sat close, discussing festival preparations, exchanging decorating ideas and recipes.
Meanwhile, Gayatri, typically attentive and excited, appeared lost in thought, absently stirring her tea, her mind elsewhere.
Noticing Gayatri's silence, Rajeshwari placed a gentle hand on her shoulder, breaking the quiet.
Rajeshwari: "Gayatri beta, kaha kho gayi ho? Kab se dekh rahe hai hum. Kya baat hai?"
(Where are you lost, my dear? We've been noticing for a while. What's the matter?)
Gayatri managed a small, reassuring smile, though her voice held a touch of unease.
Gayatri: "Kuch nahi maa sa, bas Jai aur Siya ke baare mein soch rahe the hum... itna samay ho gaya unhe gaye hue."
(Nothing, Maa sa, we were just thinking about Jai and Siya... it's been so long since they left.)
Anjali, her expression softening, leaned forward in quiet understanding.
Anjali: "Sahi kaha bhabhi sa aapne. Is baar to had hi ho gayi. Jai pehle bhi meetings pe jaya karte the, par hafte mein ek baar to call zarur kar diya karte the. Ab to pata nahi kaunsi meeting mein busy hai, aur Siya ko bhi saath le gaye."
(You're right, Bhabhi sa. This time it's too much. Jai used to go for meetings before too, but he would at least call once a week. Now, who knows what kind of meeting he's busy in, and he even took Siya along with him.)
Gayatri sighed, her fingers curling tightly around her teacup, feeling the weight of worry settling heavily within her.
"Yahi to samajh nahi aa raha humare Anjali ," she murmured softly, her gaze distant and clouded with concern.
(That's exactly what I don't understand, Anjali.)
Rajeshwari reached out, her touch steady and reassuring.
Rajeshwari: "Aap dono zyada mat sochiye. Jai aur Siya samajhdar hai, agar gaye hain to kaam zaroori hi hoga. Aur unhone jaane se pehle Rudra ko bata bhi diya tha. Pehli baar thodi gaye hain woh dono."
(Don't think too much, both of you. Jai and Siya are sensible; if they've gone, it must be for an important reason. And they informed Rudra before leaving. It's not like it's the first time they've gone.)
