A few years later

Maya lay in the hospital bed, her heart racing with a mixture of anticipation and fear. The room was filled with the sterile scent of disinfectant and the soft beeping of machines. She gripped Ethan's hand tightly, drawing strength from his presence. Despite everything that had happened between them, he was here now, and that meant something.

"It's going to be okay, Maya," Ethan whispered, his voice steady and reassuring. "We're going to get through this together."

Maya nodded, her eyes filling with tears. She had been through so much already, losing Marcus and Liam in that terrible accident. She never imagined she would find herself here again, with Ethan of all people, about to bring a new life into the world.

The contractions were coming faster now, each one a wave of pain that seemed to engulf her entire body. The nurse checked her progress and gave a nod to the doctor. "It's time," she said gently.

Ethan squeezed her hand as the doctor instructed Maya to push. She closed her eyes, focusing all her energy on bringing her daughter into the world. The pain was intense, but she could feel the determination rising within her. She had to do this, for her daughter, for herself.

With one final, powerful push, Maya felt a rush of relief as the baby was born. The room was filled with the sound of a newborn's cries, a beautiful, life-affirming sound that brought tears to Maya's eyes. The nurse quickly cleaned the baby and placed her on Maya's chest.

"Congratulations, you have a beautiful baby girl," the doctor announced, smiling warmly.

Maya looked down at her daughter, her heart swelling with love and protectiveness. She had never seen anything so perfect in her life. The baby's tiny finger curled around Maya's, and she knew in that moment that she would do anything to protect her.

Ethan leaned in, his eyes filled with awe as he looked at their daughter. "She's beautiful, just like her mother," he said softly, brushing a tear from Maya's cheek.

Maya smiled through her tears, feeling a sense of completeness she hadn't felt in a long time. "What should we name her?" she asked, looking at up at Ethan.

He thought for a moment, then said, "Ava. I think she looks like an Ava."

Maya nodded, the name feeling just right. "Ava Miller," she whispered, kissing her daughter's forehead. "Welcome to the world, Ava."

As she held her daughter close, Maya felt a renewed sense of hope. She knew the road ahead wouldn't be easy, but with Ava in her arms, she felt ready to face whatever challenges came their way. This was the beginning of a new chapter in her life, one filled with love, strength, and the promise of a brighter future.
