Maya's heart pounded in her chest as she raced down the hallway of the police station. Her mind was a whirlwind of fear and desperation. The image of Ethan's face, twisted with anger and determination, haunted her every step. She had never imagined her past would come crashing into her present with such brutal force.

As she reached the main desk, a stern-looking officer glanced up. "Can I help you, ma'am?"

"My daughter," Maya gasped, trying to catch her breath. "My daughter has been kidnapped. Please, you have to help me!"

The officer's expression softened as he gestured for her to take a seat. "Calm down, ma'am. We'll get all the details. What's your name?"

"Maya Harris," she replied, her voice trembling. "My daughter, Ava Miller, was taken by her biological father, Ethan Miller. He's dangerous."

The officer scribbled down notes and then motioned for another officer to join them. "This is Officer Ramirez. He'll take your statement and get all the necessary information."

Maya took a deep breath, trying to steady herself. She recounted everything: the soccer game, Ethan's sudden appearance, the moment he snatched Ava and disappeared. Every word felt like a knife twisting in her gut.

Officer Ramirez nodded, his face serious. "We'll put an Amber Alert immediately. Time is of the essence in these situations."

As the officers sprang into action, Maya felt hand on her shoulder. She turned to see David, his face etched with worry and determination. "We'll get her back, Maya. I promise."

Tears welled in her eyes as she leaned into him. "I can't lose her, David. Not after everything we've been through."

David held her close, his voice firm. "We won't. Ethan won't get away with this."

Hours seemed to stretch into an eternity as the police mobilized their resources. Maya sat in a small room, clutching a photo of Ava, her mind replaying every moment of the past few days. How had things spiraled so quickly? She had tried so hard to protect her daughter from the darkness of her past, but it had found them anyway.

Suddenly, the door burst open, and Officer Ramirez entered, his expression grim yet determined. "We've located Ethan's vehicle. It's headed north on the highway. We're coordinating with state troopers for a roadblock."

Maya's heart leapt with a mixture of hope and fear. "Please, you have to save her."

"We will," Officer Ramirez assured her. "But we need you to stay here and stay strong. Your daughter needs you to be brave."

Maya nodded, her resolve hardening. She had faced unimaginable horrors before and survived. She would do it again for Ava.

As the minutes ticked by, Maya clung to the hope that soon, very soon, she would hold her daughter in her arms again. The fear gnawed at her, but she refused to let it consume her. She was a mother, and she would fight with every ounce of her being to bring her daughter home.
