There are moments in life when we encounter a mirror that shows us who we truly are, revealing the wounds we hide from ourselves and others. For me, this mirror has been the 30 Weeks, a program from Igreja da Cidade that has guided me on a journey of self-discovery and healing, using biblical principles to address not only my relationships with others but, more importantly, my relationship with myself.
When I decided to participate in the 30 Weeks, I was uncertain about what I would find. I knew I needed something to help me better understand the roots of my insecurities, fears, and habits. What I didn’t expect was the profound impact this program would have on how I see myself and how I relate to the world around me.
Right from the first meetings, I was challenged to look inside myself in a way I had never done before. With the support of Scripture and the guidance of the leaders, I began to unravel the layers of protection I had built over the years. I discovered that many of my current reactions and behaviors were rooted in experiences and traumas that I had not been able to face until then.
One of the most transformative aspects of the 30 Weeks has been the use of Scripture as a tool for healing. Each verse, each biblical passage we studied, seemed to be a balm for the areas of my life that were hurting. It was through these texts that I began to see myself through God’s eyes, recognizing my worth and understanding that healing is possible, no matter how deep the wound.
The Bible is not just a book of ancient stories; it is a living source of wisdom and healing. In various sessions, I found myself reflecting on passages I already knew, but that now took on a new meaning. They became a present reality in my life, guiding my steps toward restoration.
The 30 Weeks has provided me with the opportunity to dive into a journey of self-discovery that has been both painful and liberating. Over the weeks, I was encouraged to confront aspects of my personality and my past that I had avoided for a long time. It was a process of reopening old wounds so they could finally be healed.
This self-discovery has been one of the greatest gifts the program has given me. Understanding my motivations, recognizing destructive patterns in my life, and, above all, learning to forgive myself were essential steps for me to begin to build a new narrative for myself—one based on the truth and grace of God.
As I began to see myself with more clarity and compassion, I realized that this was also reflected in how I related to others. I learned to set healthy boundaries, to be more honest about my feelings, and to seek reconciliation where there had once been hurt. But, above all, I learned that the restoration of relationships begins with inner restoration. Only when we are at peace with ourselves can we truly be at peace with others.
The 30 Weeks is not over yet, and I know that the journey of self-discovery and healing is ongoing. Each week brings new challenges, new revelations, but also new victories. I know I am only at the beginning of a path that will lead me to a fuller life aligned with the purposes God has for me.
Above all, the 30 Weeks has taught me that self-discovery is one of the most powerful forms of healing we can experience. By getting to know myself, I also learn more about God’s love and His ability to restore even the most broken areas of my life.
REFLECTION: "True healing begins when we look within ourselves, facing our wounds with courage and allowing the light of truth to transform our lives."
