The sun hung low in the sky, casting a warm golden hue over the streets of Berkeley as Billie, Adrienne, and Adeline made their way to Gilman Street. The car hummed softly, the gentle sound of the engine mixing with the excited chatter inside. Adeline sat in the backseat, her fingers nervously tapping against her knees, her heart racing with anticipation and fear. She could feel the weight of the moment pressing down on her, but with each passing block, the familiar surroundings began to ground her.

"Just remember, it's all about having fun," Adrienne said, glancing back at her daughter through the rearview mirror. Her voice was calm and encouraging, a soft anchor amidst Adeline's swirling emotions. "You don't have to do anything you don't want to. Just be yourself."

"Yeah, Addie," Billie added, his tone light and reassuring. "You're surrounded by people who love you. This is a chance to just be in the moment."

Adeline managed a small smile, though it felt fragile and unsure. She could hear the distant sound of music as they neared the venue, the familiar pulse of punk rock filling the air. Memories of past shows—of the energy, the camaraderie—flashed through her mind, reminding her of what she used to love. But this time, it was different. This time, it was personal.

As they pulled up to Gilman, Billie's heart raced with excitement. The small, iconic venue had always felt like home to him—a place where dreams were born and friendships solidified. The brick façade loomed before them, and the sight of familiar faces filled the parking lot.

Adeline hesitated as they parked, her stomach twisting into knots. "What if no one wants to see me?" she blurted out, her voice barely above a whisper.

"Then they'll just have to get used to it," Billie replied with a wink, stepping out of the car. "Trust me, they're going to love seeing you. You're the star of the show today."

As they made their way to the entrance, the excitement in the air was palpable. Adeline's friends—Lucy, Jamie, Alex, Lily, Piper, and Violet—were the first to spot her, their faces lighting up with joy. They rushed over, squealing in delight as they enveloped her in a group hug.

"There you are! We thought you were going to bail!" Lucy exclaimed, pulling back to look Adeline in the eye. "We were worried!"

"I almost did," Adeline admitted, her heart fluttering at their enthusiasm.

"Come on, you've gotta come hang out with us! This is going to be so much fun!" Jamie added, her eyes sparkling with excitement.

Feeling a rush of warmth and camaraderie, Adeline took a deep breath, letting their energy wash over her. This was the moment she needed—their friendship was like a lifeline, pulling her back into the present.

As they entered Gilman, the familiar sights and sounds enveloped her like a well-worn blanket. The stage was set, instruments scattered around, and the buzz of anticipation crackled in the air. The room was filled with laughter, voices mingling and merging into a beautiful cacophony that stirred something within her.

Joey appeared next, alongside Mike and Tré, each of them accompanied by their families. Billie felt a swell of gratitude seeing their support. Mike's daughter, Estelle, beamed as she spotted Adeline, her bright smile infectious.

"Hey, Addie! Ready to rock?" Estelle called out, bouncing on her toes. Adeline couldn't help but laugh. "Ready as I'll ever be!"

Tré's kids—Ramona, Frankito, and little Mickey—joined the throng, their excitement palpable. Ramona wrapped her arms around Adeline, her energy like a jolt of electricity. "You're gonna crush it! Just like your dad!" she exclaimed, grinning.
