Walking into the restaurant, Sugawara could already hear the bustling sound of conversations happening around him. He could faintly hear what some were talking about, asking about how their day was, if they had anything planned after lunch, or how their family was doing.
Suga took a minute to gaze at his surroundings, quickly glancing at strangers until he spotted a large table, near the corner, crowded by his old friends from the volleyball team. He stood still for a couple seconds, his brain yelling at his legs to move but his body wouldn't, his legs starting to feel like jelly.
As he stood there by the door, all the noise before became quiet to his ears, no longer being able to hear the commotion that was around. His heart began to thump harder and his breathing began to quicken, he didn't know what to do, his anxiety skyrocketing.
Then he felt a firm hand grasp his shoulder.
It was tight but it was reassuring.
Turning his head to the person who was clutching his shoulder, he was met with Kagayama's dark eyes.
"You got this Sugawara-san."
He spoke quietly, loud enough so that the other could hear him, letting his hand go from the former volleyball player's shoulder.
"Yea! Don't feel so nervous! Everyone is going to be so happy to see you again!"
Hinata shouted loudly, causing some eyes to turn towards them, making the three stiffen for a moment before giving awkward smiles towards the people in a sort of apology for their loudness.
"I suppose so.."
Suga gave a wavering smile at the two younger men before walking off towards the large table, setting his eyes on an empty chair that was placed beside someone who seemed very large talking to a shorter woman that sat across from him.
As the man talked to the young woman, he noticed how the lady's eyes grew ever so slightly and slowly stopped talking, leaving her mouth slightly agape from shock from who walked behind him. He slowly turned his body in his chair to catch the person his friend was gawking at in astonishment.
When he turned, he was faced with none other than his highschool friend, Sugawara Koshi.
His mouth also became like the young womans, mouth open in shock as he stared at the older man that now stopped walking and stood right in front of him.
Suga slowly brought one of his arms to give a slight wave to the two people in front of him sitting down at the table.
"Hey Kiyoko, hey Asahi."
The look of pure astonishment grew on both the others' faces as they could only stare at the now older looking Suga.
"Suga?!"
Yelled Asahi, now getting up from his seat and standing in front of Sugawara.
"There's no way! Where have you been?!"
Suga brought his hand up to scratch the back of his neck out of nervousness.
"Eh- College and I guess school since I've been a teacher for the past couple years now."
He gave a weak laugh, trying his best to keep calm in his situation.
"You're a teacher now?"
Kiyoko asks, now getting up from her seat as well to stand beside Asahi.
"Um yea. I'm a kindergarten teacher actually. It's a bit stressful but I enjoy helping out little kids."
"How come you never contacted any of us? Or at least give someone updates on how you were doing? We were really worried about you..."
