AMBITIOUS MR FABULOUS

Chapter Eight

Press Conference of Truth

“Madison, I'm really sorry for asking you this favour. Forgive your mother, okay?” Mrs Lopez said that morning as she carried the ashes of Mr Lopez in an urn.

“It's okay, Mother. You have a part-time job today, right? I'll spread his ashes into the sea, then I'll come back to cook dinner,” Madison quickly replied as she lifted the urn, pecked her mother's cheek and left the house.

“My poor daughter. I know she's struggling to get by. It's not her fault. She has gone back to pretending that she's fine,” Mrs Lopez thought sadly as she stared at her daughter.

Madison smiled faintly while greeting the people of the neighborhood. She held the ashes close to her chest as she walked like a lifeless corpse along the lonely road leading to the beach.

She sighed when she finally arrived after walking for so long. She saw the waves of the sea roaring from a distance as the wind tossed her hair back and forth.

With a blank expression on her face, she passed the rocks and went down to the beach. She simply sat down on the ground with the urn next to her as she kept staring at the sea intensely.

Ethan was walking along the seashore when he saw Madison sitting at a distance. He was surprised, so he walked up to her.

“Hmmm…you're Madison Lopez, right?” He suddenly said, making her to raise her head. She sighed deeply before continuing to stare at the sea, so Ethan sat next to her.

“I heard about your father's death. I'm really sorry. A lot must be going through your mind right now,” he commented softly, but she just kept quiet.

“I…I always come to the beach when I'm going through a hard time. It's a nice place to clear your mind. I never knew your family personally, but I was at your tenth year birthday party. It showed how much your father cared about you,” he added soberly.

“I should have spent more time with him,” she suddenly blurted out. Ethan was surprised.

“What…are you saying?” He wondered out loud, so she turned to look at him. He saw tears in her eyes.

“I was too busy making money that I couldn't even spend time with him. I didn't know he wouldn't always be there. I've been such a bad daughter. I should have made him eat more meat, I should have…”

“What use is there in regretting now? I don't think he wants you to live the rest of your life in regret. He probably felt very bad about the way you were living. Why do you choose to wallow in guilt?” Ethan interrupted her sharply. Madison was surprised by his reaction, so she suddenly wiped her tears and smiled faintly.

“You're right. What use is there in regretting? He'll never come back again, no matter what I do. To be honest, I came here to spread his ashes, but…I won't do that. Thanks to you, I've been able to realize that he won't get the peace he's supposed to get if I don't do something first. Instead of living my life like this, I should become strong, and keep on fighting, right?” She said in one breath as she stared at him, so he nodded.

“Mmm. When I saw you defending Martin the other day at the hospital, I saw how strong you are. You could even stand up to Isabella. You should keep on smiling like this. It suits you. It's alright to mourn your father sometimes, you'll definitely miss him, but you can scale through this. You have your mother after all,” he said softly.

Madison's gaze shifted to his hands, and she saw how much he had bitten his nails. There were even some wounds on it.

“You should take your own advice. If you have anxiety disorder, you can talk it out with your mother, you know?” She reminded him worriedly, but he shook his head in acceptance.
