Seohyun Jeong, affectionately known as Hyu, walked through the bustling hallways of Jeongwon High School. Every step she took echoed with a promise of potential, yet every glance from her classmates reminded her of the burden she carried. At eighteen, she was celebrated not just for her
striking beauty-long, dark hair that cascaded like a waterfall, almond-shaped eyes that sparkled with intelligence-but also for her academic achievements. She had a prestigious reputation, having been accepted into evening classes to keep her ahead in the competitive world of education.

Hyu's life was a carefully crafted façade, masking a troubled existence. Behind her radiant smile, there was a darkness that loomed, one that she hoped to escape. Today, however, she was determined to focus on her studies and her friends.

As she approached the gymnasium, she spotted Minwoo waiting for her, his athletic frame leaning casually against the wall. Minwoo was more than just a friend; he was her protector, her confidant.
With his height of 6 feet and striking dark mullet, he commanded attention on and off the court. But to Hyu, he was like a brother, fiercely loyal and always ready to shield her from any harm.

-Hyu, you're looking beautiful as always! he exclaimed, a genuine smile lighting up his face.

-Thanks, Minwoo. You know just what to say to brighten my day, she replied, feeling a warmth spread through her. Despite her troubled thoughts, Minwoo had a way of making her feel safe, if only for a moment.

As they entered the gym, the sounds of bouncing basketballs and laughter filled the air. The energy was infectious, but Hyu couldn't shake the sense of unease that had settled in her stomach. She spotted Joon, her first love from middle school, lurking at the edge of the court, his eyes fixated on her. Memories of their shared laughter and innocent love flooded her mind, but they were overshadowed by the haunting reality of his recent behavior.

-Is everything okay? Minwoo asked, noticing the shift in her demeanor.

-Yeah, just a little distracted, she replied, forcing a smile as she tried to shake off the nagging feeling.

After practice, as the gym emptied, Hyu couldn't help but glance back at Joon. His presence was a constant reminder of a past she wished to forget. But as they walked home together, Minwoo's protective nature kicked in.

-If he bothers you again, you know I'll handle it, right? he reassured her.

-I know. Thank you, Minwoo. It just feels complicated, she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
