Awaking with a start, Kevin tried to make sense of his immediate surroundings, as sitting on a floor made of clouds in the sky was not exactly a possible thing.
He looked around for more clues, immensely puzzled, when a voice took him by surprise.

“Ah, there you are! Been expecting you.”

Looking in the direction of the cheery voice, the floating white, humanoid faceless being puzzled Kevin even more.

“Um… where am I?”
“Oh, you don't remember?” The being said, pointing to the tire marks burnt onto Kevin's shirt, “You died.”
Flashes of his final moments flew through his head and he gripped his temples to relax.
“You good?” It asked.

“Yeah… yeah. So…um… what happens now?”

“Typically you'd be guided through pearly gates for your well earned eternal rest, or you'd be cast into a torturous fire pit for your eternal suffering, but… for you, I've got something in mind.”

Kevin quirked an eyebrow, urging the being to continue while also trying not to think of where he'd end up in the usual procedure.

“You see,’ It started, “ I've been doing a little pet project… a whole fantasy world equipped with magic systems, mythical creatures, adventurous terrain, the whole D&D package. Only thing I'm missing, is a Hero. And that's where you come in.”

“A… hero? I don't know if you know this… well, I'll assume your God so I think you do, but I'm an asshole. I couldn't give two shits about saving people.” Kevin found it so ridiculous he scoffed. Him? A hero? You'd have a better chance teaching a monkey an entire Kpop choreography.

The being without a face seemed to smile at him, though he wasn't exactly sure how something faceless could smile.

“Oh I know. I know you're a selfish scummy piece of shit that would waste no time throwing people under the bus when it's convenient for you,”

“Okay, wow. Rude.”

“But, I also know there's a 16 year old girl that crossed the streets a few moments ago, didn't see the truck coming and is still alive thanks to a certain individual.”

Kevin was silent for a moment, before eventually sighing in defeat.

“Alright… you got me. So, what do I have to do?”

“Wonderful! So, i created a fun little Demon King for this world, only problem is he's a little too overpowered. If I leave him alone, he'd completely destroy my new world, and that's been my only source of entertainment for the last few centuries. So for now, your goal is to defeat him, giving me a chance to make a completely new one.”

“What? Why can't you just do it yourself? Snap your fingers and make him disappear or something?”

“The Dungeon Master can't interfere with the world they built directly” It pouted, “and I purposely limited my control over it so I let things play out without being predictable.”

“So… I'm like your edit button?”

“Precisely.”

Kevin took a deep breath before giving the figure a nod.
"I'm ready when you are."

"Spelndid! Now, once you get down there, I'll be able to communicate to you directly through prayer, so dont forget to find the time to go on your knees!"

It waved a hand, Keving began to glow golden, and the clouds parted before he shot down like a comet, headed into the unknown.
"Good luck out there, my Hero."
