A familiar, old, sweet feeling sweeps in me whenever someone talks about "back in those days' we used to... ". Our evolution has surely gifted us so much but taken many things that we are dear to us too(Since I was studying Evolution today).
One such thing that i can recall at the moment is " Appreciation, Words of appreciation, Words of affirmation/laurels".
Oh wait why am I even penning down synonyms of a word we have come so ahead from . There used to be a time when people genuinely used to appreciate each other but now we are running on a track where just a click on the "heart" button is considered equivalent to a heartfelt message dropping with honey. Bro seriously? I think that in this era of 'liked your story', 'replied to your story' is a hazy vision. Call me illiterate or what idc but that's literally a vicious cycle too.
We are literally oblivious to the fact how deep our words may impact others( both in positive and negative ways ). If you guys know about it, it takes only insult or one 'lighthearted joke' to shatter someone's confidence that they spent months over to build up.
Talking about the impact, I recall an incident vividly when I sang a song to my senior and she said,
" Arshi, your song was the only good thing that took place in my long-dull day". Impact? I started posting my songs more and more each day. Then one day an anonymous person wrote on my ngl(it was a freak trend. God, I was a part of it 😭 bury me), "Why do you sing so bad" which definitely made me feel you know a lil bit of wonder if I really sang bad but i didn't give it much thought because of the mindset I have(will surely talk about it in the next chapter).
The impact we have on people is far greater than it seems. We are always conscious of the misconception, "what if they start thinking so highly of themselves? " but does it matter? According to me people deserve to receive the credits for the things they do, each one of us too.
Appreciation involved in your daily routine may seem like 'thanking your mother for cooking for you everyday ( because that's something she chooses to do) , complimenting a girl's ear rings on your annual function, hyping that kid who thinks that he goggles are cool, thanking the watchman for his hardwork etc'.
You know, I have a habit of thanking the shopkeepers after I buy something from them and guess whattt??!? People used to laugh at me for doing that. I mean, broo normalise thanking people for doing their job well . Yes! Don't even dare to come up by saying that " Oh ArsHi, TheY dO it bEcaUse tHey ArE GeTtinG pAid for iT" because I have seen people trying to earn money through inappropriate means.
A phrase or two may reside in someone's for an entire week or who knows? A lifetime. You never know when you become the reason for someone moving forward. Okay so i think this is end of the chapter, you know what you gotta do now when you witness anything wonderful now. I'll be back and see you in the next chapter!
