"Midnight, you ok?" Harvest asked as he turned around to see his best friend, just drifting along behind him.

                  "Huh?" Midnight said, still dazed.

"Midnight?" Harvest asked, in concern. "Midnight! Are you listening?"

                             Midnight didn't respond.

Harvest swam closer to him and smacked him in the face, snapping him out of it.

"Ow!" Midnight exclaimed as he rubbed his face. "Why'd you smack me with your caudal?"

"You were acting strange." Harvest replied, nonchalantly.

"I was?" Midnight asked in confusion.

"Uh yeah." Harvest replied in disbelief. "You were completely spaced out as if your mind was elsewhere."

"Sorry, Harvest." Midnight said. "It's just I met someone earlier and um." He trailed off, not wanting to finish his sentence.

"You met someone? Who?" Harvest asked, curiously.

"A mermaid." Midnight replied. "Not from Tramor, though."

"Where's she from?" Harvest asked. "Or do you not know?"

"I know where's she from." Midnight admitted. "I know her name too."

"Well, don't keep me in suspense. Spill." Harvest said, eagerly.

Midnight thought of an idea. "I will." He put a finger to his friend's mouth. "But, only if you can catch me." And with that, Midnight swam off at a speed Harvest could match.

Harvest nodded as he took off after his friend.

Their game of chase was causing a lot of splashing, which Harvest's dad noticed.

"Harvest!" He boomed. "Come out of there, at once."

Midnight and Harvest stopped their game but didn't surface.

"I mean it." Harvest's dad said. "Come out."

Harvest slowly poked his head out of the water.

"Are you playing instead of working?" his dad asked.

                                                                           "No." Harvest replied.

"Then what are you doing?" his dad asked, curiously.
