RING.
It's now time for gym. Ms. Kumar instructs us to wait outside against the wall. The girls stand in groups laughing while the boys push each other around. Ms. Kumar locks the classroom then we head downstairs.Parisa and I entered the changing rooms to change into our gym wear. I lay my bag on the bench. Parisa and I start out walking laps. Some decide to run like annoying Matthew and the other boys but I and Parisa choose to walk because we are smart and we do not want to waste our energy on this. We walk for a while when I feel a bump. Argh, Jackson. This kid decides to bump into me and doesn't say sorry.
As we hear the whistle, we go and stand in a circle, with Ms. Kumar in the middle. She holds a soccer ball in her hand. I guess for the 1st sport we are going to start with soccer. I smile, Parisa looks over at me and rolls her eyes. She hates soccer. Annoying. This girl prefers basketball and baseball.
"Attention all! We will be starting the soccer unit for September and half of October. Everyone here knows the rules of soccer and because today we have a small part of the gym due to some students in the gym because of class, I will assign you guys to teams. There will be five teams. I will sort you into it and no one fusses about it. Then I will call out two teams and they will be playing against each other." She smiles. "Please form a line." She starts sorting us into groups. I and Parisa stand next to each other even though we know that we won't end up on the same team. I get number three while Parisa gets number four.
I go towards my group. Sarah, Alisha, Damon, Kaviya, and some others join. I look over to Parisa's group. I know for a fact she is going to suffer, she was mostly with the guys. Kim, Ishana, Jackson, Mohammed, Alani and Matthew. Good luck playing with the Chimapzee, Parisa.
"Team 4 and Team 1" Ms. Kumar calls out. The teams go on the gym floor. On their sides. I sit on the bench next to Alisha. She's a classroom friend, I had last year in arts. I'm ready to watch Parisa suffer. Get the ball and score girl! I yell in my mind. Ms. Kumar places the ball in the middle and Matthew and Zahir stand next to the ball ready for the go.
"One, Two, Three Go!"
Zahir is quick to kick the ball to his left. Everyone starts running crazy trying to pass the ball to one another. Wow, The show-off is bad at this. I say it in my mind. I'm talking about Matthew.
Alisha tells me something and look at her and reply to her and then I turn back looking at the game and Matthew has the ball. People are trying to get to him but he is quick with it and he's skills are helping it. I wait till he scores. And well he does. I shouldn't have judged a book by it's cover. I'm worse than him.
Parisa looks at me. A look of devastation fills her face and I laugh.
"Go, Parisa!" I yell into the crowd. Parisa gives me a shut-up look and I laugh. Matthew looks over at me.
Scores fill team 4. Parisa doesn't need to do anything. Matthew and some other ones are doing the work. He's good, not bad. Everyone that is playing is sweating. Parisa is the only chill one there. She smiles at me and winks, I laugh. Damn, she is enjoying it so much.
Some people shout out for Matthew to goal. I guess that motivation is helping. One by one it shoots in, earning 7 scores for Team 4 in 6 minutes. Team 1 only has 1 goal so far.
The whistle blows.
"Team 5 and 2 up!" Ms. Kumar says. People from the teams go up and Parisa runs toward me and sits next to me. Matthew goes and sits against the wall. The side I'm sitting in. He opens his bag and takes out this water bottle. My jaw drops, he is still using the same water bottle I dented! He got the money but is still using it!
