Chapter 30: The Next Step

Emma’s phone buzzed on the table, the sound cutting through the silence of the small motel room. She picked it up, her eyes scanning the message from Marcus. Her heart skipped a beat as she read the words: "We have a lead. Tribeca. Be ready."

She looked up at Claire, who was sitting on the bed, her eyes filled with worry. “Marcus got something,” Emma said, her voice filled with a mix of hope and determination. “Alexander’s main safehouse. It’s in Tribeca.”

Claire’s eyes widened, her posture straightening. “So we’re finally going after him?” she asked, her voice trembling with a mix of fear and excitement.

Emma nodded, her mind racing. They had been running for so long, always on the defensive, always trying to stay one step ahead. But now, they had a chance to strike back, to take the fight to Alexander. It was dangerous—more dangerous than anything they had done before. But they had no other choice.

“We need to move fast,” Emma said, her voice steadying. “We can’t give him time to regroup. We need to hit the safehouse, get whatever information we can, and then disappear before he even knows what’s happening.”

Claire nodded, determination flickering in her eyes. “What about Marcus? Is he coming with us?”

Emma hesitated for a moment, then shook her head. “No. He’s done enough. If something goes wrong… I don’t want him caught in the crossfire. We’ll need him on the outside, keeping an eye on things, making sure we have a way out.”

Claire took a deep breath, her hands trembling slightly as she reached for her bag, checking her gear. “Then let’s do this,” she said, her voice filled with determination. “Let’s end this.”

Emma nodded, her heart pounding in her chest. This was it—the moment they had been waiting for, the moment they had been fighting for. They were going to take the fight to Alexander, and they weren’t going to stop until he was brought down.
