𝐁𝐎𝐍𝐍𝐈𝐄
Dark clouds gathered like a murder of crows. The trees hung over me with judgment as I continued to run, their branches twisting and gnarled like grasping fingers. I was back here again. Running for my life.
As I ran, the only thing I could hear was my heavy breathing. The air was thick with the murky scent of decaying leaves and damp earth. Each crunch of my feet can be heard pounding against the ground.
Every rustle of leaves as he pushes them away as he makes his presence known to me, makes me quicken my pace, desperate to evade his wrath. He is one with the shadows, moving with the trees.
The hot burning in my lungs, cries and sues for mercy. I had to keep running. His footsteps echoed in my ears, letting me know that I am not alone. My heart screamed in fear, acknowledging the presence of a dark figure, who loomed over me.
"You are now mine, pevchaya ptitsa" his cold breath lingered behind my ears causing the hairs of my back to prick up in fear.
His strong arms wrapped itself around me. I tried, and to no avail, hitting his face, flaring my arms up in self defence. He carried me as if I was light as a feather and I weighed nothing in his muscular arms.
"Let me go, Dominik" I screamed out, trying again to have him loosen his arms but he was too strong and I just let myself go limp in his arms.
"There's no where for you to go, moya malen'kaya pevchaya ptichka" his callused hand gently stroked my cheek and against my brains will, my heart softened at his gesture and i basked in his warm embrace, finding myself leaning into his touch.
I turned to see his face, but the only thing I could see was his gray eyes which were illuminated by the moonlight. His eyes which were normally dull were now full of life and a fire that I had never seen before. I saw sparks flickering across his gray eyes, finding myself entranced by its surreal beauty.
"Ms Kincaid, I hope my lesson isn't too boring for you" I awoke in a cold sweat and lifted my head to see Ms Gordon hovering over me and the rest of the class were also looking towards me, their heads tilted.
"Sorry Ms, won't happen again" this was probably the third time this week that I had fallen asleep in lessons.
"Bonnie, you are one of my brightest historians and my best students. Is something going on?" Ms Gordon asked me after class, her voice soft and gentle in comparison to the harshness from before. She was leaning against her desk, taking off her glasses to take a good look at me, her arms crossed against her chest.
It must be the dark circles which encompassed my eyes. I must have a looked a right state.
"Nothing Ms. Everything's fine" I said, twisting the handle of my handbag until my knuckles turned white. She looked like she wanted to ask more questions but decided against it and let me go.
I made my way to the cafeteria where my friends were waiting for me. Annika and Ava waved enthusiastically in my direction and I plastered on my fake smile, made my way towards our table and sat down between Annika and Glyndon.
"Back me up here, Bonbon. Am I, your Lordship, not an absolute sex god" Remi was bickering with Ava. I rolled my eyes playfully at Remi and proceeded to eat my cheese and ham sandwiches.
"You are so full of yourself, Remi" Ava playfully flicked her food at Remi's face.
"Help, Spawn. Your Lordship is under attack from peasants" Ava stuck her tongue at Remi before she went back to eating and talking with Cecily, while Remi hid behind Creighton to avoid the on slaughter of her attack.
"Are you ok, Bon" I turned to Brandon and sighed, trying to hide my annoyance with the same question that I've been asked too many times.
"I'm fine, Bran", I looked over at him, with smile on my face in hope it may waver his doubts at me.
"It's just that you haven't spoken since you got here" I took Brandon's hand to reassure him that was fine. But I knew Brandon was not convinced by my smile but I just didn't want to talk about it.
