The Midnight Rescue

The clock ticked past midnight, its sound echoing through the quiet dormitory room that Taehyung shared with his friends. The dim light of his phone illuminated his worried face as he scrolled through his messages, hoping for a reply from Jennie. After five years of keeping their relationship a secret from their families, the couple had grown accustomed to the subtlety of their affection, but this was different. She hadn't replied to his texts all day.

"Hey, Jisoo. Do you know where Jennie is?" Taehyung asked, feeling a knot of anxiety tighten in his chest.

"She's not feeling well. She has a high fever and a cough," Jisoo replied, her voice laced with concern. "She didn't want to worry anyone."

Taehyung's heart sank. He felt a surge of determination wash over him. "I'm going to go see her," he declared, not giving himself time to second-guess his decision.

"What? At this hour?" Jimin, who had been half-asleep on his bed, perked up at the mention of Jennie's name.

"Yes. I'll take her some medicine," Taehyung replied, grabbing his jacket with fierce resolve in his eyes.

"Dude, it's midnight. You can't just show up at her house," Jungkook mumbled, rolling over to avoid the light.

"I can't let her be alone like this. Come on, I need you guys," Taehyung insisted, shaking them awake.

Jimin groaned, pulling the blanket over his head. "This better be good. What are we, your backup crew now?"

"Yes! The perfect rescue team!" Taehyung replied, excitement bubbling in his chest.

"More like the 'get caught by Hitler' team," Jungkook grumbled, scratching his head as he finally sat up.

"Yeah, and you know how strict he is! If he finds out you're sneaking around with his daughter, we're toast," Jimin added, trying to stifle a yawn.

"But if you want to be my wingmen, you better stop whining and come with me!" Taehyung challenged, determination shining in his eyes.

"Fine! But I'm not taking the blame if we get caught!" Jungkook sighed, reluctantly swinging his legs off the bed. Jimin rolled his eyes, but he got up too, knowing they couldn't leave Taehyung to venture out alone.

With some reluctance, Jimin and Jungkook finally agreed to accompany Taehyung, muttering about how they had been woken from their peaceful sleep for a "hero mission." As they walked toward Jennie's house, the chill of the night air nipped at their skin, but Taehyung's determination kept him warm.

Arriving at Jennie's home, they stood outside in the dark, the moonlight casting eerie shadows around them. Taehyung looked up at the window of Jennie and Jisoo's shared room, his heart racing. "I'll throw some pebbles to get her attention."

"Are you serious? This isn't a rom-com," Jungkook teased, crossing his arms.

"Just watch," Taehyung said with a confident grin. He picked up a few small pebbles from the ground and tossed them gently at the window.
