Aiden sat in his bedroom, talking to Joshua again, a guitar in his hand as he strums mindlessly. Joshua just finished telling a story and they fall into a comfortable silence, Josh is the one to break it, "Thinking about Megan, loverboy?" he teases.

"Maya," the Matthews boy corrects. Josh looks at him, surprised, the boy sighs. "Some days, she'll talk to me, have full conversations with me and we'll be fine and then the next day she'll distance herself," he explains, "Been like this ever since she and Megan talked."

"Maybe Megan said something to her," Joshua shrugs, Aiden glares at him, "Geez, sorry for suggesting it." Joshua raises his hands in defence. "Just a thought,"

"Well you're wrong..... but theoretically, if you are right, what could she have said?" Aiden asks the smarter boy, who looks at him like it's obvious.

"Wow, I knew you were dumb, but I didn't know you were this dumb," Aiden looks at him, only slightly offended, "Obviously she sees the way Maya looks at you, probably told her to stay away from you,"

"The way Maya looks at m- Dude what are you on? Maya doesn't look at me any differently than she does Riley," Aiden insists, "Actually, she looks at me with more annoyance but same thing,"

"Wow, you're slow. That girl has had a crush on you for the longest time, anyone can see it," Josh tells him, "Well, everyone but you,"

"She doesn't like me like that. If anything, she sees me as an older brother," to be honest, he's more trying to convince himself of it, not wanting to have missed his chance with Maya.

"Okay, buddy, whatever helps you sleep at night," Josh chuckles as the two talk for the rest of the day, before Aiden eventually falls asleep.

The next morning, Aiden wakes up and heads straight to the kitchen, where his mom is making breakfast. "What time is it?" he yawns.

"An odd time for you to be up. Seriously, you're up before everyone else. That's a first," Topanaga laughs, "Who were you talking to last night?" Aiden looks at her and quickly comes up with an excuse.

"I was talking to Mason on the phone," he lies, "Talking about random stuff.... speaking of which, how does Maya look at me?" He asks, wanting a second opinion.

"What do you mean?" Obviously, Topanga sees how Maya looks at Aiden but it's a random question to ask right now.

"Just, Jo- Mason said something yesterday that got me thinking, that's all," he quickly saves his slip up. Topanga noticed it but didn't say anything. She's about to answer when Cory walks in. "You have no idea how bad your timing is," Aiden sits down at the table.

"Well... sorry?" Cory grins. Auggie walks out, followed by Riley. They all sit down as Topanga puts breakfast on the table.

"Thanks, mom." Aiden begins eating when the intercom buzzes. Riley buzzes Maya up, who is followed by Farkle and Lucas, "God, invite the whole world, why don't ya?" Aiden says sarcastically, "What are we? A homeless shelter?"

"Well-" Lucas starts but is cut off by Aiden.

"Yeah, I don't care, cowboy," Riley hits him on the back of the head and turns to her friends.

"You have anything new on your grandparents?" The three shake their heads. Aiden perks up.

"Grandpare- Oh god," he turns to Cory, "1960's project?" he asks, already knowing the answer.

"Yup!" Cory grins.

"Of course it is." he turns to Maya, "So, what have you fou-" Maya cuts him off, turning to Riley.

"Did you find anything else out?" Oh, so it's one of those days, where Maya ignores Aiden's existence completely. Aiden sighs when his phone starts ringing. He walks out the room to answer.

"Hey, Meg," he greets happily.

"Hey, babe. So, quick change of plans. Remember how we were supposed to be going out tonight?" Of course he remembers, he was gonna take her to this great restaurant downtown, he booked a reservation and everything. "Something came up, I can't make it to dinner. Sorry."

"Oh. Um, you know what? Don't even worry about it. We can just do something some other time," Aiden tried to sound like he was fine with it, but this is the sixth time she's cancelled on him. "Talk to you later,"

"Yeah, sorry again!" is the last thing she says before hanging up. Aiden sighs and walks back into the main room. He sees that no one is there, everyone must've gone to school/work already. He grabs his bag and heads to school.

After school, Aiden decided to hang out at Svorski's. He was going to stu- no he wasn't, he was never going to study. He went there to think about things, and one name kept popping up in his mind. Maya. Did she really like him? Why was she being so distant all of a sudden? Does he like her? Of course he does, but he's with Megan... the same Megan who has cancelled on him six times.

He sighs as he thinks back to when he first met Maya.

Flashback:

It was cold out as a young Aiden Matthews and Mason Hart walked down the sidewalk to Aiden's apartment complex. The pair ran in, playing a game of hide and seek-it. Aiden tagged Mason, who giggled and started to count. Aiden ran off to hide, running into his sisters room.

He saw a blonde girl sitting with his sister. "Who are you?" Aiden asks, protectively.

"I'm Maya," the girl said innocently.

"Hart?" Of course, Aiden knew of Maya, Mason talked about her a lot, complaining that she was annoying.

"Yes. How'd you know?"

"I'm Aiden! I'm Mason's best friend!" The boy exclaimed happily. "What are you doing here though?"

"I heard singing, so I came." Maya told him.

"Probably just my dork of a sister," he laughed.

"Hey! I'm not a dork," Riley jumped in.

"No matter how much you tell me that, I will never believe it," he tells her. Maya giggles at the interaction. Aiden hears Mason shout that he's coming, "Quick! Hide me!" Aiden whisper-shouts to the two girls, who point to under the bed.

"Aiden, I know you- Maya? What are you doing here?" the blonde boy asks his sister.

"Hanging out with Riley!" The girl exclaims..

"....Okay. Have you seen Aiden anywhere?" the two girls shake their head and Mason leaves the room to find him. Aiden comes out from under the bed and makes a chuckles.

"Thanks for not blowing my cover!" the girls turn to look at him.

"Well, snitches get stitches," Maya tells the boy, who nods. Maya realises the Matthews boy has dirt on his face, "You have dirt there," she points to where the dirt is, when Aiden struggles to find it, Maya does it for him and wipes it off his cheek. "Gone."

"Thank you, I'm gonna find a new hiding spot, See ya!"

"Bye!" Both girls wave. Maya turns to Riley.

"He's the kinda guy I'm gonna marry one day!" she tells her confidently. They share a laugh, not knowing Aiden heard it.

Present:

'The kinda guy I'm gonna marry'. Why can't he be the guy she marries? Wait... no, he's with Megan, he shouldn't be thinking like that. He sighs, picking up his bag and heading home. One question in his mind:

Maya or Megan?

A/N: I couldn't figure out how Aiden would fit into this episode plot. So I did my own thing. LMK if you like it.
