"Family game night. My favorite night of the month. Just me, my family, and my 'jama pants." Cory says enthusiastically.
"Why do you guys have to make such a big deal about game night?" Riley asks her father.
"Because game night is sacred, Riley." he chuckles. "I know this is gonna come as a shock to you, but there's gonna come a day where you start to prioritize friends over your family."
"What? No." As if on cue, Maya walks in.
"Did you tell them yet? Did he freak? Did she tell you? Did you freak? Show me what you did. Freak out for me." Aiden chuckles at the blondes enthusiasm.
"Why would I freak out? I don't freak out." Cory then turns to Riley, "What did you do?!" Just then, Josh and Auggie walk in.
"Family game night, now with extra family." Auggie announces.
"Well hello," Maya greets, twirling her hair.
"Well hello," Auggie mimics, making Aiden laugh.
"Auggie didn't want to miss game night. We never made it out of the city." Josh then turns to Cory, "Oh, here's your money."
"This is a dollar, I gave you a hundred"
"With that kind of money, you think we're not gonna buy steaks?"
"Thank you papa!" Auggie pats his belly.
"You know what? My brother!"
"My brother!"
"Listen, you're here for game night. You're family, you're in." Cory tells his younger brother. Suddenly, the intercom buzzes.
"Farkle." the voice comes through.
"And Lucas" another voice comes through.
"Come on up." Riley buzzes the pair up.
"Topanga." Cory turns to his wife, "It's happening. I thought we had a few more years."
"Calm down,"
"No calm. It's happening right now. Riley invited her friends to family game night." Cory turns to Riley, "Riley, shnookums. Um, you're gonna have to start to prioritize what's more important to you, your family, huh?" Cory gestures to the family, "Or your friends. There is only one right answer,"
"Why do I-"
"Wrong answer,"
"-have to choose between-"
"wrong answer"
"I love y friends and I want to hang out with my friends!" Riley announces. There's a knock on the door. It's Farkle and Lucas.
"Welcome to family game night, friends," Riley lets them in.
"Wrong, wrong, wrong answer," Cory points to each of them as Topanga walks up behind him.
Aiden sits at the dinner table with his head on the table. He hasn't been sleeping much recently. Suddenly there's a familiar voice.
"Family game night!" Joshua appears out of nowhere, causing Aiden to jump and scream. Everyone looks over at him.
"Sorry, thought I saw a, uh, clown...?" he smiles sheepishly, his statement coming out as more of a question.
"Right...." everyone turns back to their conversations.
"Sorry, couldn't miss the best night ever," Joshua apologises
"So, you don't show up at Christmas but family game night is just all the rage for you?" he whispers to Joshua, who shrugs.
"See this? The family game. The game for families." Cory reads the cover of the game, Aiden finally looking over, "Not the friends game, a game for friends. I saw that game. I didn't buy that game. I bought this one because I used to have a family." Cory tells Riley and her friends.
