[ Author-kun's Parody: So, I'll stop caressing the OC's T-Rex and focus on other plot stuff.

I did that at first to give more background, since everyone knows the COTE characters apart from the OC, but things were getting repetitive.

And I'll cool it with the monologues, since I'm getting tired of doing sophisticated thought process lines.

Phew, finally got that out of my chest... Now onwards and scroll downwards to the story! ]

Ayanokoji's POV:

-----

Lunchtime finally rolled around, and I found myself drifting toward the cafeteria with no particular plan.

The rest of the class had their little social circles and lunchtime routines, but I preferred to go with the flow, blending into the background where I belonged.

Walking through the hall, I spotted Horikita in the distance, already heading out with her bento. She always preferred eating in quiet spots rather than the bustling cafeteria. I, however, had no such qualms. Lunch was lunch.

As I entered the cafeteria, the familiar chaos greeted me-students rushing to grab trays, others laughing loudly at inside jokes, and a few attempting to negotiate the last portions of curry. Average school day noise.

I grabbed something simple-a sandwich and an apple-and started scanning the room for a quiet spot when, as fate would have it, I bumped eyes with Ichinose Honami. She looked across from her group of friends, her cheerful smile appearing instantly when she recognized me.

"Oh, Ayanokoji-kun!" she chirped, as bright as a dandelion. "Fancy seeing you here! You don't usually eat in the cafeteria, do you?"

I gave her a casual nod, not really feeling the need to elaborate. "Sometimes."

Ichinose, being as friendly as she is, motioned to the open seat across from her group. "Care to join us?"

I considered it for a moment.

Honestly, Ichinose's class was one of the more harmless ones in school, and eating with them meant I wouldn't be subject to some of the more chaotic elements that plagued Class D's tables-like Shinohara's loud rambling or Yamauchi's weird sense of humor.

"Sure," I said, sitting down across from her.

I started eating, and the atmosphere was filled by the open dialogues of Ichinose's classmates. Ichinose, however, was quietly listening in with her usual smile.
