Fuka Kiryuin's POV:

-----

The soft afternoon sun bathed the park in warm hues, casting long shadows across the pathway. The summer air was still, carrying the faint scent of freshly cut grass.

I had sought refuge here, away from the monotonous chatter of the school and the suffocating buzz of students talking about exam results, rankings, and the endless games of social dominance.

I leaned back on the park bench, crossing my legs as I gazed out at the trees, their leaves swaying lazily in the breeze. It was peaceful, the quiet hum of nature offering a reprieve from the relentless grind of academic life. My mind wandered aimlessly, as it often did during moments like this.

In the distance, a group of students, likely from our school, huddled together, whispering and pointing. I paid them no mind, knowing exactly what was likely being discussed-exams, rankings, who's climbing up the social ladder and who's slipping.

-----

'I was never interested in that, and they knew better than to involve me.'

-----

But then I noticed a familiar figure break off from the crowd.

-----

'Natsuki.'

-----

He had been conversing with a couple of students, probably about that business undertaking of his, something that had become the talk of the school lately.

His face held that usual relaxed grin as if nothing in the world could ever faze him. His posture was casual, hands in his pockets, his pace unhurried.

-----

'There was a certain unpredictability about him, a quality that simultaneously drew attention and repelled it, depending on the person.'

-----

He noticed me, naturally. I wasn't surprised.

-----

'He has a habit of spotting me wherever I am, even when I thought I had managed to slip through the day unnoticed.'

-----

I watched him make his way over, leaving the group behind, his grin widening as he approached, looking amused by something-probably the students' reaction to him leaving mid-conversation.

-----

'Natsuki is like that. Always doing whatever he pleades.'

-----

"Yo, Kiryuin," he called out, ignoring all honorifics, and stopped in front of me. "Fancy running into you here."

I raised an eyebrow, not caring to sit up from my comfortable slouch.
