It was international break and I already missed Ruben like crazy. I had done the exact opposite of what I had wanted, and that was getting too attached to a new guy, again. "It healed well" Laura commented on my nose as we got some coffee together during a morning break. "Yeah, everyone still makes fun of me, especially Ruben" I chuckled and rolled my eyes jokingly.
"Are you missing him?" she asked and I looked at her confusedly. "What do you mean?" I asked, playing dumb. "You know what I mean. He's far, far away and you can't even go watch one of his matches" she pouted. "I must admit that Liechtenstein hasn't been on my top travel bucket list" I replied. "But Lisbon is nice from what I heard!" she teased me and I rolled my eyes.
"Sure, but I have to work that weekend" I sighed. "Oh, when are your next free evenings? We should totally go out for drinks sometime soon" she asked me excitedly. "I'm off on Monday and Tuesday next week" I replied, actually happy that I somehow made a new girl friend. Ines was great but... she was a mum and her model beauty kind of still intimidated me. Laura was beautiful too, don't get me wrong, but her and I doing the same job kind of made her easier for me to get along.
The days seemed to pass only so slowly and I found myself drooling over pictures of Ruben at an award show for Portuguese football with his family on Sunday night, while I should have been resting for the hours of the shift ahead.
