It's been 2 days since I've last seen Iris, and since my panic attack..
I've been texting her all day. It's currently Monday, Memorial Day and I have school tomorrow, Ugh.
I've been thinking about how Iris and I like each other, more than just friends. Then I thought about how now I like girls, because I like Iris. But do I like boys too? Because they are still nice, and good looking in a way.
I don't know what this means.
I serachered up:
"What does it mean to like girls and boys?"
Apparently, it was called, Bisexuality.
It means that you like both genders.
I guess that means that I can like my fictional crushes from movies and Iris.
Guess that means I like my bestfriend.
Then, the next moment Iris texted me
"hi el!"
"hiiiii"
"wyd?"
"texting youuu"
"i wanna hang out with you, i cant wait til monday lol"
"okay but this time at ur house"
"fineeeeee"
"coming over rn, send ur address"
"4365 rolling oaks street"
"see you soon."
I had just finished texting Iris and I got my shoes on, got my keys, put on the GPS, and drove to her house.
It took me 10 minutes to get to her house. When I got there, I was a little nervous that it would be awkward, but I was already there so no turning back.
When I got there, she opened her blinds quickly, then ran to the door and opened it for me.
"Hey!" she said, then gave me a quick hug.
"Hi!" I said as I hugged her back.
"Well, welcome to my house!" she said.
"And meet my mom!" she added.
As her mom signed the words, I looked at her in confusion.
"I'm sorry, I can't understand her, I don't know ASL," I said.
"Oh, she said, 'Hi Elodie, I've heard so much about you!" she said.
"My mom is deaf, and so is my dad so we sign, I'm her free interpreter," she added.
"That's cool!" I said, not knowing what to say that would be satisfying.
Her mom did body language for I don't know;
Iris quickly signed out the words of what I just said.
Her mom signed back,
Then her mom signed, "Are you two in love?"
"Uh, no Mom! Why would you say that?" said Iris.
"What did she say?" she asked.
"Uh-she uh, asked if we are in love," Iris said.
"Oh! Uh-No-I Uh- Just like her, as a uh- friend!" I said stuttering.
"That's such a lie El, 'she laughed' I know it," she said with a smirk.
Iris signed back to her mom each time we talked, it was like a sport, so fast but knowing what to say each moment, then interpreting too.
I bet she had to do that for so long.
When Iris and I went upstairs to hang out, there were so many doors on the 2nd level that I couldn't even figure out which one was her room!
Luckily there are signs for her siblings.
"So who are your siblings? I asked
"Reba, Ezra, and Quinn," she said.
"They're all deaf too," she added.
"That's crazy." I said with amazed smile.
"It's not the best but it's okay." she said.
"I have to interpret for all of them too." she added.
"Maybe I could learn ASL and help." I said.
"That would be a great idea."
"I'll teach you another day, I wanna hang out with you." she said.
She scoots over on her bed as she does hand movements for me to come.
I scoot onto the bed next to her, I want to tell her about how I might be Bi too, but I'm nervous.
"Hey I wanted to tell you something." I said nervously.
"I think I-I'm..."
"Hungry." I said, saving myself.
"I thought you ate before this at home?" she said, questioning what I was saying.
"Oh yeah, I forgot." I said.
"Are you trying to tell me something...else?"
"No......OK Yes!" I said admitting it.
"I think I might be Bi." I said.
"I still like my fictional crushes, but you are the one I really like." I said.
"Knew it."she said.
"How?" I asked, demanding answers.
"It was easy, actually." she said.
"You always smile when you look at me, infact whenever we make eye contact at all." she said.
"And the other day, when we were together in your room, you didn't move from the spot we were in, together." she added.
"I feel like that was right where we both developed feelings for each other." she again added.
"Why are you so correct about that last part?!" I said with an annoyed face.
"Your cheeks are so rosy!" she said.
"No they are not!" I said, covering my face.
I ran to the bathroom mirror and it was true.
"Oh my lord." I said.
"Told you" she said.
"Stop being right!..." I said.
After that...we started talking about our old schools and just past stuff.
She told me about her old boyfriend and how he was really toxic to her, and she's been taking a break from love. She says she dosen't really know love at all. I don't believe her she found me, she's my first 'crush' and now, my 'more than friends person'.
I told her about my first crush when I was 12. It was Sonic the hedgehog.
We started laughing becuase it was so stupid. Then her sister came in and started signing.
"Is this your girlfriend?" she signed.
"What did she say?" I asked.
"She asked if you were my-my- girlfriend," she said hesitating.
"Oh," I said, not knowing that would be the first thing asked.
At that moment, I was questioning if she was my girlfriend or if she just had a big crush on me, because when she signed back and pointed at her sister to go, she turned around and her cheeks were red.
"We are girlfriends right?" she asked anxiously.
"I mean we're dating, but uhh." I said, not knowing what to say.
"Well I dunno.." she said.
