The classroom was buzzing with chatter as everyone waited for the first bell to ring. Amira sat with her friends , Layla and Azraa, casually laughing at some joke Layla made. It was just another typical morning before school started, students either finishing up homework or catching up on the latest gossip.
Amira, however, found her attention wandering. Zayd was sitting a few seats away ,across the class with his friends, effortlessly cool as always. She tried to focus on the conversation with her friends, but it was hard when he was just... there.
"I'll be right back," she told Layla and Azraa as she grabbed her phone and left for the bathroom. She just needed a moment to collect herself and shake off the nerves that always crept up when Zayd was nearby.
When Amira returned to the classroom, she paused at the doorway. Something felt... different. As she approached her desk, she noticed her bag had been moved-and it was now sitting right next to Zayd's. Her heart immediately jumped into her throat.
Wait, how did this happen? she wondered, her face turning red.
Before she could process it, Layla chimed in with a grin, "Oh, I moved your bag, hope that's okay! There wasn't enough space on the desk, and I didn't realize it was next to Zayd's."
Amira's heart skipped a beat as she glanced between her bag and his, sitting there side by side. She felt her pulse quicken, unsure whether to laugh or run away from the situation. Zayd hadn't noticed yet, but the proximity of their bags was enough to make her blush. Her face was flushed with redness. What if he thinks I did it on purpose?
Her face flushed red, but she tried to act casual, sitting back down and praying he wouldn't notice-or worse, think anything of it.
