As the days go by, Alex tries to focus on work, but the distance from Mia gnaws at him. He throws himself into surgeries and patient care, but there's a lingering shadow that nothing seems to alleviate. Each time he glances at his phone, he hopes for a message from her, yet nothing comes. Mia respects his request, but the silence feels heavy, almost suffocating.

One night, as he leaves the hospital, Alex notices a figure standing outside the entrance, shrouded in darkness. It's Mia, her silhouette barely illuminated by the streetlights. His heart races at the unexpected sight of her, torn between relief and the apprehension of crossing the boundaries he set.

Mia catches sight of him and steps forward, her expression a mix of concern and determination.

Mia: "I had to see you. Can we talk?"

Alex: "You're right. I've seen some odd things, but I thought it was just the stress of the job... but if there's something going on..."

Mia nods, her eyes wide with a mix of fear and determination.

Mia: "I don't want to jump to conclusions, but we should look into it. Together. If we're going to figure out how we feel about each other, we should also protect the patients and our workplace."

Alex grapples with the weight of their decision, the thrill of mystery igniting something within him.

Alex: "Okay. But we have to be careful. If anyone finds out we're investigating this..."

Mia: "I know. We'll keep it under wraps. We can meet after our shifts and go through the files. We can figure this out, Alex. Together."

Alex's stomach churns.

Alex: "I don't know, but we need to be careful. If someone is covering something up, we could be putting ourselves at risk."

That night, they decide to meet in the hospital parking lot to discuss their next steps. Just as Alex leans in to confess what he's truly feeling, the sound of tires screeching interrupts them.

A car races into the lot, headlights blinding them. Alex pushes Mia behind him instinctively, his heart pounding. The car stops abruptly, and a figure jumps out—one of their colleagues, Dr. Reynolds, looking frantic.

Dr. Reynolds: "You need to get out of here. Now! They're onto you!"

[ The Chase]

Before Alex can ask what's happening, the figure turns to look back at the entrance of the hospital. Shadows move, and Alex realizes they're not alone.

Mia grabs Alex's hand, her pulse racing.

Mia: "What do we do? We can't go back in there!"

Alex: "We need to get to my car. Stick close to me!"

As they sprint toward Alex's car, the figure from the entrance races after them. Adrenaline surges through Alex, driving him to push faster, but they can't shake the feeling of being hunted.

As they speed away, Alex glances back to see the figure standing in the lot, their face hidden in shadow, a haunting reminder of the danger they now face.

Mia: "What was that about? What are we involved in?"

Alex grips the steering wheel, fear and determination warring within him.

Alex: "I don't know, but we're going to find out. Together."

With a shared look of resolve, they plunge into the night, unsure of what awaits them but ready to face whatever mysteries lie ahead.
