“I seriously doubt she’ll show up at university,” a girl said, walking alongside her friend.

“Right? I mean, who could focus on classes after finding out their fiancé cheated on them? I’d be a total wreck,” the other girl whispered.

“Honestly, looks don’t matter. Even the most beautiful girls can get cheated on,” whispers circulated around campus.

“Exactly! You can be rich and gorgeous, but that doesn’t guarantee a faithful partner.”

The murmurs and whispers grew louder as Lyra strolled down the university hallway with Evara, drawing everyone's attention.

By a stroke of luck—or perhaps bad luck—Tristan approached from the opposite direction, and the onlookers treated the encounter like a live show. Evara knew Lyra could handle it, so she remained silent.

Tristan stopped in front of Lyra, whose expression was blank. Despite her attempts to hold back tears and reassure herself that she would be okay, seeing his face brought back a flood of memories that hit her like a truck. After all, she had been engaged to him for four years, and she had truly loved him.

“Can I speak with you for a moment?” Tristan whispered to Lyra.

Lyra simply nodded, her expression blank, and glanced back at Evara.

“I’ll be back soon, so don’t wait for me,” she said. Evara patted her shoulder, smiled, and walked ahead, while Tristan felt a chill run down his spine from Evara’s intense glare.

“Let’s go, or I can’t promise your safety,” Lyra warned Tristan, who quickly nodded and began to walk.

They entered one of the VIP rooms reserved exclusively for the Thornes.

Tristan locked the door behind them, and Lyra took a seat on the couch, crossing her arms and legs. He found himself sitting across from her, feeling unusually anxious as he rubbed his palms against his pants.

“Go ahead and speak,” Lyra said, waving her hand dismissively.

Tristan hesitated, searching for the right words. “Lyra, I know things between us have been… complicated,” he began, his voice unsteady. “But I didn’t mean for it to end like this.”

“Complicated?” Lyra interrupted, her tone icy. “You mean you didn’t mean to cheat on me? That’s quite a way to put it.”

Tristan flinched at her words, realizing how flippant his choice of language sounded. “I made a mistake. It was a stupid moment, and it doesn’t reflect how I feel about you. You know how much I care for you.”

Lyra’s eyes narrowed, disbelief etched across her face. “Caring for me doesn’t excuse what you did, Tristan. We were engaged for four years. I trusted you.”

He ran a hand through his hair, frustration creeping in. “I know, and I regret it every single day. Can’t we talk about this? Can’t you see that I want to fix things?”

Lyra took a deep breath, trying to maintain her composure. “Fix things? Do you think it’s that simple? Trust doesn’t just come back because you want it to.”

Tristan frustratingly ran a hand through his hair. “Look, Lyra, you’re overreacting. I mean, we all make mistakes, right? It’s not the end of the world.”

Lyra’s eyes narrowed, her arms crossing tighter over her chest. “Not the end of the world? Tristan, you just cheated on me. Do you have any idea how that feels?”

He leaned forward, desperation creeping into his voice. “I didn’t mean for it to happen. It only happened once okay, It doesn’t mean I love you any less! We’ve been together for four years. Can’t we just move past this?”
