I temporarily opened my ask box for requests. Here's one of them:

"Pets? Who likes them, who doesn't, what kinds would they prefer to have?"

Characters: Masato Aizawa, Akira Nishikiyama, Reina, Osamu Kashiwagi, Kaoru Sayama, Kazuma Kiryu, Goro Majima, Taiga Saejima & Shun Akiyama

Aizawa

He's never had a pet of his own but he's met enough small animals in his life to help him decide that he's good without. He actually is kinda terrified of small dogs– so that probably doesn't help. It's honestly kinda funny because dogs are often very drawn to him. Meanwhile, he wants them to go away. He's good with big or mid-sized dogs because he feels like they can "understand each other" but small dogs? They petrify him. The smaller they are, the more vicious they seem and he wants no part of it. He still remembers the first time he'd met Morinaga's puppy. He let out a scream so shrill the other man held it against him for at least 2 years. Thankfully, he and the Morinaga family pup were able to eventually "come to an agreement" . He actually kinda loved the little rascal but he's still not opening pet applications anytime soon.

Nishiki

He's never met a pet that he couldn't charm. He's the guy that could get your cat that hates EVERYONE to sit in his lap AND PURR! He always told himself that he'd get a cat or dog someday when he got a bigger place but he just never got around to it. He's still open to it but he's not going to go out of his way to make it happen. Knowing that he'd be the one responsible to clean after them is probably what keeps making him put it off. He hates to pick up after himself but then he'd have another to pick up after? Soft pass... All it really takes is for one cute little stray to wind up at his doorstep and he'll crack. When he was younger, he did have a goldfish that he won at a festival but it didn't last long. He... doesn't like to think about it.

Reina

She thinks they're all so adorable but from a distance. She found out she had an allergy to pet dander just after college when her parents gifted her a beautiful, sweet white Persian kitten– her very first pet! She hadn't really been in close proximity to any furry friends before that. She wondered for months why she was always sneezing, teary eyed and itchy all of a sudden. Once she figured it out, she cried – and not because of the dander. She bawled! She didn't want to part with her cute little "Nyoko-sama" . A college friend of Reina's took Nyoko in for her, so at least she knew her girl was well taken care of. Even after her friend moved to a different prefecture, she'd occasionally receive a postcard in the mail, along with several pictures of Nyoko looking happy, healthy (and regal).

Kashiwagi

He's the dad that says, "Absolutely no pets." And then winds up loving the damn thing more than anyone else in the house. He still remembers when his late wife had their sons ask him for a family dog, knowing that he would say no, only for her to go behind him and get one anyway. He couldn't go ANYWHERE without "that mangy mutt" following him. He tried his best to ignore it for the first month but all it took was his family leaving him and the dog home alone for a weekend for them to find him and the pup napping on his recliner in front of the tv. So much for that "iron fist"of his...

Sayama

She may be a bit of a hard ass but she is a sucker for animals. She loves dogs because they're loyal and protective. She prefers dogs that are intelligent, a little reserved and easy to train. Her dream dog had always been an akita. He was a few years old already when she first brought him home. She'd take him with her when she went for her morning jogs each day and despite her busy schedule she always made time to play with and love on him when she got home after work. She took it really hard when he got ill. After she lost him, she wasn't sure if she could ever get another pet again. When she moved, though, she found the silence and solitude a little lonely. Somehow, she wound up the owner of a Pionus parrot– its lifespan may or may not have had an effect on her decision here. (It did.)

Kiryu

He hardly remembers how Mame became a part of his household but there are plenty of memories surrounding that little guy that he'll never forget. He was never really too much of a pet guy himself but there's not much in the world he wouldn't have done to make his kids happy. He's certain that if they asked to bring another pet home, he'd scratch his head and think about the costs of another mouth to feed before finally caving in. After all, he wanted them to have childhoods full of health, love and happiness. In the times he was separated from his kids, Mame was always somewhere in the picture.

Majima

If someone asked him if he wanted a dog, he'd joke that there's only room for one mad dog under his roof. If he had a family? He'd buckle before the kids even got the question out of their mouths. On his own though, he's a lot less likely to go for a traditional pet. He'd opt for something like a ball python or a bobtail lizard. He'd always hide his coat when he goes to interact with them and if he forgets, he'll tell it, "Ah, don't worry. This shit aint real." (It is.) And if they misbehave (somehow), he'll grumble as he taps against the glass, "Don't make me make another coat outta you." He's not even remotely serious... Thank god.

Saejima

He's a lover of all things feline. Big wild cats to cuddly little domestic kittens and they love him too! Well, he's not had much of a face to face experience with a wild cat but he wouldn't be against it! After all, he went toe to toe with a massive man-eating bear AND WON. Random tidbit: He's fascinated by big cats and while he likes that people get to admire them up close through zoos, he feels that no wild animal deserves to live a life behind glass as a spectacle, especially wild cats. He sympathizes with them a lot. Getting back on topic, he hasn't owned a cat in a long time but he's always very loving and caring toward the stray cats that spawn into his neighborhood from time to time.

Akiyama

In an attempt to, in his words, "raise company morale" he proposed the idea of having an office pet. Hana shut him down immediately stating that her morale was "just fine" and that it'd in fact decrease morale if he got a pet for the office because she knew that the real reason why he proposed it was because he wanted a pet for himself but didn't want any of the responsibility that came with it. And... she wasn't wrong. So, the idea died just as quickly as it was presented.
