"City Heights Café, how may I help you?" A voice spoke on the other end of the line.

"Hi, I was just calling about the job opening you have?" I started.

"Oh, yes, of course. What is your name, Miss?" the man asked.

"Aspen Othrough," I answered.

"And are you a student at Columbia College?"

"Yes, I am."

"Alright, well we have a few positions open at the moment. I will reserve an application for you and you can pick it up here at the café at any convenient time within the next three days."

"Okay, thank you so much!" I grinned widely.

"No problem. Good luck!" the man said.

"Thank you! Bye!" I stated and then hung up the phone.

"Already looking for a job?" A voice said from behind me. I jumped, not knowing there was another person present in the room.

"Nina!" I gasped as I turned around. "Don't scare me like that!"

"Sorry," she laughed.

"And yes, I am applying for a job."

"Two weeks in? Damn girl, you crazy," Nina shook her head.

"I need the money," I shrugged.

"Don't we all?" She sighed.

"I feel ya, girl. Well I'm gonna go pick up that application, wanna come with?" I asked.

"Eh, why not," Nina agreed. "Maybe they'll have one for me, too."

"Alright, class," Professor Danforth started, "We have about five minutes left in class, and I have an extremely exciting announcement."

Everyone in the room noticeably lightened up, sitting up in their chairs and taking their eyes off of their laptops.

"We will be offering a three week trip to fifteen students to go Alaska."

Some gasped. Others cheered. I just sat there with my jaw hitting the floor.

"Now, lucky for you, this is only being offered to photography students, particularly those in my class. We will leave on Saturday, October 24 and return on Monday, November 16. We will be stopping at several 'big' cities, but we will mostly be exploring the Alaskan wilderness. So if you are someone who is not a fan of the great outdoors, this trip is not for you.

"However, those of you interested can stop after class and receive an application. Remember, only fifteen students will be going, so do your absolute very best while working on this application. Good luck!" Mr. Danforth smiled.

I needed to go on that trip.

As soon as class was dismissed, I grabbed my backpack, which I had already packed up during the remainder of class, and headed straight to the front of the classroom, where a line of people had already formed. I waited for about ten minutes before I was finally at the front of the line.

"Ah, Miss Othrough, is it?" Mr. Danforth asked as he turned to grab an application.

"That's me," I smiled politely.

"I had a feeling you would jump on this trip," he smirked and handed me the papers.

"You know me so well," I joked.

"I hope you're able to come with us. Good luck!" Professor Danforth smiled.

"Thanks," I grinned, turning around to leave the room. I started walking towards the door while scanning the questions when all of a sudden, I ran into a wall. Or what I thought was a wall.

But just so happened to be Ross Lynch.

"Watch where you're going, Miss," he joked lightly, dropping his eye in a wink.

"S-sorry," I stuttered, my cheeks heating up like an oven preheated to 500 degrees.

"I'm applying for the trip, too. Hope to see you there!" Ross grinned and then walked towards Mr. Danforth to get an application of his own. I was as red as a tomato at that point, and I didn't want to embarrass myself any further, so I gripped the straps of my backpack and hurried my ass out of that classroom.

On my walk back, I looked at the questions more thoroughly, without running into anyone, might I add. Most were along the lines of What makes you a good candidate for this trip? and Why do you want to go on this trip?

I could tell this application would be a breeze to fill out. The job application I received, however, would not be such a walk in the park.

I've never been able to hold down a job for very long. Either I wasn't a very good employee, or I just didn't like the job. I wasn't sure how this job would go, but I knew that I had to talk to the manager about the trip before even attempting to apply.

But I decided to save that stressful job for another day.

Just a warning: I may or may not have a new chapter up until Monday depending upon how much free time I have. I'll try to update as often as possible. Thanks for your patience xx
