Natalie's POV
*Flashback*
Today was our two year anniversary and even though I wasn't going to see him until tonight for our special dinner and such, I had to drive to his house to tell him all of the details because he wasn't answering his phone which was pretty odd for him to do.
As I walked up his front porch steps I took notice that his mother's car was missing which meant I was going to have to use the key from under his welcome mat. I unlocked the door and called out for him but I got no reply so I assumed he was sleeping. So I decided to scare him, I was nearing the corner to his room to find it was cracked open. Slowly I went over and pushed it open completely; that's when my heart broke and shattered into about a trillion pieces, give or take a few. There he was with my 19 year old sister, making out like he didn't have a care in the world.
"I guess I just leave then," I said weaker than I intended but I was almost sobbing at this point. I've never seen anyone move their head so quickly after hearing me speak. "Natalie it's not what it looks like," Cameron and my sister Ariel said in unison. "Yeah, it sure as hell doesn't look like you weren't kissing my 'sister' behind my back," I said with air quotes. After saying that I left without waiting for a response, and the thing that hurt the most was that,
he didn't even chase me. Two years went to fucking waste.
*Flashback over*
"Natalie, Natalie, NATALIE!" I heard my mom say while lightly shaking me from that awful dream. Yes I had a dream about the day I gave up the two people that had me happiest. The event only took place a little over a month and a half ago but my heart was still broken. He was probably better off with her, she was actually his age while I was a couple years younger.
Anyways, after wiping the tears I had cried in my sleep off of my face, it was time to un-board the plane. I grabbed the few things I had with me and trailed behind my mom. We exited the terminal and walked out of the actual airport. My mom had called my aunt who lives here in North Carolina to come and pick us up. She was already in the parking lot so we didn't have much waiting to do. When we got in the car my aunt was asking me the usual check-up questions such as "How is school," or "Are you behaving at home," then she asked something that caught me off guard.
"How are you and Cameron?" I don't recall ever answering that question before I started crying myself to sleep. For the second time today I felt like a baby. When I woke up I was sitting on a couch in our new house. Across from me was my mom, my aunt, my uncle, and my cousin Naya. "Uh Hi?" I said in more of a questioning tone. "Good evening hun, I'm sorry for asking about him, your mom just filled me in on what happened," she said and I hear the sincerity in her voice. "It's okay, the subject is just a little touchy for me," I said calmly.
"Well, dinner should be ready soon but Naya do you mind helping Natalie unpack?" my mom asked softly. "Sure, I'll help!" Naya said excitedly. Naya was a few months older than me and was like a sister to me. As we walked up the stairs she was telling me that we would be attending the same school which relieved me a little bit. We started unpacking and she kept talking about this really hot guy who lives down the street, but I was only halfway listening.
We were almost done before we heard that dinner was ready. My mom made lasagna which happens to be my favorite. Dinner went well but something was a little off, there was a lot of tension in the room and you could feel it. I decided not to question it though and instead asked Naya if she wanted take a walk. It wasn't a problem with my mom considering it was only about 6pm (3pm on the West Coast which I missed so dearly).
Before we left I changed out my leggings and hoodie that I'd been wearing for a while. I changed into some acid washed high-waisted shorts with a black crop top that said "I'd rather be sleeping." It was a DIY shirt that I made a while ago with my sibling who kissed the only boy I've ever loved. But as for shoes I switched my blue toms for black flip-flops. As for hair, I took it out of its by now nest/bun and just left it down after I brushed it. Then finally I swiped some mascara on my eyes and went downstairs.
"Damn, if I had known you were going to take so long I would've changed too." Naya said with a slight laugh. "Did I really take that long?" I thought to myself. "Yes, yes you did" Naya said as she motioned me to walk out of the door with her. "I really need to stop talking out loud." I muttered.
As we were on our walk, Naya was pointing out this cute little park that I think will become my favorite place and some of the houses that belongs to kids at our school. Then as we were crossing the street, I saw him and some slightly taller dude. I saw the guy who broke my heart almost two months ago,
Cameron Alexander Dallas.
I must have been staring at him for awhile because soon I heard "..Nat is that you?" . I didn't even have to turn around to know it was him. So I grabbed Naya's arm and ran as fast as I could back to my house. As soon as we got home I sat down on the couch and heard a ding from my phone. A message that said;
Cameron: It's good to see you again Natalie :)
A/N Ohh so Cam is in town, who was the guy he was walking with and why is he happy to see her? I will update again either tomorrow or later tonight.
