---Felix and Seungmin had known each other for as long as they could remember. Growing up in the same neighborhood, attending the same schools, and now sharing the same group of friends, their paths had always been intertwined. Yet, despite all the years of being in each other’s orbit, Felix and Seungmin had never been particularly close. They weren’t enemies, but they weren’t best friends either. They were just… there, always existing at a comfortable distance.
That is, until one afternoon changed everything.
It was a crisp autumn day, the kind where the leaves crunched beneath your feet and the sky was painted with shades of orange and gold. Felix had spent most of the afternoon at the local library, trying to get ahead on some school assignments. The quiet, peaceful atmosphere of the library was a perfect contrast to the busyness of his usual routine.
He had just finished packing up his books when he noticed someone familiar sitting at one of the nearby tables, head buried in a thick textbook. It was Seungmin, lost in concentration, the faint sound of music escaping from his headphones.
Felix hesitated for a moment, unsure whether to say hello or just leave quietly. But something compelled him to stay. He hadn’t spoken to Seungmin much lately, and maybe this was a good opportunity to break the ice.
"Hey," Felix said softly, approaching the table.
Seungmin looked up, blinking in surprise as he pulled off his headphones. "Oh, hey, Felix," he replied, a small smile forming on his lips. "Didn’t expect to see you here."
"Yeah, I’m trying to finish up some assignments," Felix said, motioning to the books in his hands. "You?"
"Same," Seungmin replied, closing his textbook. "It’s quieter here than at home."
"Mind if I sit?" Felix asked, gesturing to the chair across from Seungmin.
"Sure, go ahead," Seungmin nodded.
Felix sat down, and for a moment, there was a comfortable silence between them. They had never spent much time together one-on-one before, but it didn’t feel awkward. In fact, Felix found himself surprisingly at ease in Seungmin’s company.
"You’re always so focused," Felix remarked after a while, noticing the neat notes Seungmin had scribbled down in the margins of his book. "I wish I had that kind of discipline."
Seungmin chuckled softly, shaking his head. "I don’t know about that. I just like to be organized. It helps me stay on top of things."
Felix smiled, admiring Seungmin’s attention to detail. He had always known Seungmin to be serious about school, but seeing him like this, up close, Felix felt a new appreciation for him.
As they continued talking, the conversation shifted from schoolwork to more casual topics—music, movies, random bits of their lives that they hadn’t shared before. Felix realized how much he didn’t know about Seungmin, despite all the years they had been around each other. And as they talked, Felix found himself drawn to Seungmin in a way he hadn’t expected.
By the time the library was closing, Felix didn’t want the conversation to end. He was genuinely enjoying Seungmin’s company, something he hadn’t anticipated when he first sat down.
"Do you want to grab some coffee?" Felix asked, hoping to extend their time together. "There’s a café nearby. My treat."
Seungmin glanced at his watch, considering it for a moment. "Yeah, sure. I could use a break."

The café was warm and inviting, a perfect contrast to the chilly autumn air outside. They found a quiet corner by the window, sipping on their drinks as the world passed by outside.
"So," Felix began after a comfortable silence, "we’ve known each other for a long time, right?"
Seungmin raised an eyebrow, smirking slightly. "Yeah, pretty much our whole lives. Why?"
"I just realized we don’t know each other that well," Felix admitted, his tone light but sincere. "I mean, we’ve been in the same space for so long, but we’ve never really talked like this before."
"True," Seungmin nodded, his expression softening. "I guess we’ve always just… existed near each other without really connecting."
Felix leaned back in his chair, a thoughtful look crossing his face. "It’s funny, isn’t it? How you can be so close to someone but still feel like strangers sometimes."
Seungmin nodded again, his eyes briefly meeting Felix’s before darting away. "Yeah, I guess we’ve just never had a reason to get to know each other."
"Well, maybe we should change that," Felix said with a grin. "No reason we can’t start now, right?"
Seungmin smiled back, a small, genuine smile that made something warm bloom in Felix’s chest. "Yeah, maybe you’re right."

Over the next few weeks, Felix and Seungmin started spending more time together. It wasn’t something they planned—it just sort of happened. After school, they’d meet up for study sessions or grab coffee at the café. Felix found himself looking forward to their time together, enjoying Seungmin’s quiet wit and steady presence.
One chilly afternoon, they were sitting on a park bench after one of their usual coffee runs. The sun was setting, casting a warm glow over the park, and Felix felt a strange tension in the air. He glanced over at Seungmin, who was staring off into the distance, seemingly lost in thought.
"Hey, Seungmin," Felix said softly, breaking the silence.
Seungmin turned to look at him, his expression unreadable. "Yeah?"
"Do you ever feel like… there’s something more between us?" Felix asked, his voice barely above a whisper. He hadn’t meant to say it out loud, but the words slipped out before he could stop them.
Seungmin’s eyes widened slightly, surprise flickering across his face. For a moment, Felix thought he had made a mistake, but then Seungmin spoke.
"Yeah," Seungmin admitted quietly, his voice steady. "I’ve been thinking about that too."
Felix’s heart skipped a beat, his breath catching in his throat. He hadn’t expected Seungmin to feel the same, but hearing those words made his chest swell with a mix of nervousness and excitement.
"I don’t know when it happened," Seungmin continued, his gaze dropping to the ground. "But… I think I’ve liked you for a while now. I just didn’t know how to say it."
Felix felt a rush of relief and joy wash over him. He reached out, gently taking Seungmin’s hand in his own. "I like you too, Seungmin," Felix said softly, his voice filled with sincerity. "I’ve just been too scared to admit it."
For a moment, they sat in silence, holding hands as the world around them seemed to fade away. It was a simple gesture, but it spoke volumes about the feelings they had both kept hidden for so long.
Finally, Seungmin looked up, meeting Felix’s gaze with a small, genuine smile. "So… what now?"
Felix grinned, feeling a surge of happiness he hadn’t expected. "I guess we just see where this goes. Together."
Seungmin nodded, his smile growing wider. "Yeah, together."
As the sun set, casting a golden glow over the park, Felix and Seungmin sat side by side, their hands intertwined. They didn’t know what the future held, but for the first time, they were ready to face it—together.
