Felix had never been one to believe in fate or chance meetings. Life, in his opinion, was mostly a series of choices, mixed with a little bit of luck. But that belief was put to the test one rainy afternoon when he met Han Jisung.

The rain had been coming down in thick sheets, the kind that made it impossible to see more than a few feet ahead. Felix had been walking home after running some errands, his hoodie doing little to protect him from the downpour. He groaned as his sneakers squished with every step, the cold seeping into his bones.

Desperate for shelter, Felix ducked into the nearest café. The warm air hit him immediately, the smell of coffee and baked goods wrapping around him like a comforting hug. He shook off the rain from his clothes as best as he could, glancing around to find that the place was packed, probably because of the weather.

There was only one open seat left, tucked away in the corner by the window, occupied by a guy who seemed just as soaked as Felix. He was scribbling in a notebook, a pair of earphones in, seemingly lost in his own world.

Felix sighed, not wanting to intrude but also not willing to stand around in wet clothes any longer. He made his way over, clearing his throat as he approached the table.

"Hey, um, is this seat taken?" Felix asked, his voice tentative.

The guy looked up, pulling out one of his earphones. Felix was immediately struck by how expressive his eyes were—dark and full of life, despite the dreary weather outside.

"No, go ahead," the guy said with a smile, motioning to the seat across from him.

"Thanks," Felix muttered, sitting down and setting his wet backpack on the floor.

For a few moments, they sat in silence, Felix fiddling with his phone while the guy returned to whatever he was writing. Felix couldn’t help but sneak a few glances at him, curious about the stranger who seemed so absorbed in his work. His hair was dark and slightly tousled, probably from the rain, and he wore a hoodie that was just as damp as Felix’s. There was something about him—something easygoing, yet focused—that drew Felix in.

"Pretty bad weather out there, huh?" the guy suddenly said, breaking the silence.

Felix looked up, slightly startled. "Yeah, it came out of nowhere," he replied. "I wasn’t expecting to get caught in it."

"Same," the guy chuckled, closing his notebook and stretching his arms. "I’ve been waiting for it to slow down, but no luck so far."

Felix smiled, feeling the tension ease. "Yeah, I don’t think it’s going to stop anytime soon."

There was a pause, and then the guy extended his hand across the table. "I’m Han Jisung, by the way."

Felix blinked in surprise, not expecting the introduction. He quickly shook Jisung’s hand, feeling a small spark of warmth from the friendly gesture. "Felix," he replied. "Nice to meet you."

They fell into an easy conversation after that, talking about everything from the weather to their favorite shows. Felix learned that Jisung was a songwriter, always carrying a notebook around to jot down lyrics or ideas that popped into his head. Jisung, in turn, learned that Felix had recently moved to the city for school, still trying to find his footing in the unfamiliar environment.

"I like it here, though," Felix said, leaning back in his chair. "The people are nice, and there’s always something to do. Just getting used to the rain."

Jisung laughed, nodding in agreement. "Yeah, the rain takes some time to get used to. But you seem like you’re adjusting pretty well."

Felix smiled, feeling a strange warmth bloom in his chest. There was something about Jisung’s easygoing nature that made him feel comfortable, like they had known each other for longer than just an hour. He had never believed in instant connections, but this… this felt different.
