Kiera followed me into the school. I ran to the other side. To one of the other exits.
Kiera Gasped “You really are a genius.”
“I think that was established in middle school” I brag “Okay let's try this door, and others.” I tried this door. It pops open with a siren following it. “Yes. Let's go now” I shout as Kiera runs behind me out of the school. As we make it past the doors I feel the weight of my life gets lifted off my shoulders. My life doesn’t hang in the balance of death. I look over at Kiera and tears are streaming like a waterfall from her eyes. I can’t help but do the same. We stand there outside the building with tears falling to the ground.
“Come on” Kiera grabs my wrist and walks away from the school. I walk with her to the parking lot. Around the school I see parents waiting for the children that will never come back. We walk up to one such car. Blood, still over our clothes, skin. The woman in the front seat gasps when she sees us approaching her.
“What…What happened?” she speaks up with fear in her voice.
“I am so sorry ma’am but your child is gone.” I state with tears of my own coming down.
“But..But..” She starts breaking down. Kiera speaks up.
“ We need you to call the police and the hospital.” The lady responds “My son.. He’s gone…” Stone silence. “Okay I guess” She grabs her phone and dials 911. Hands me the phone. “Tell them” She sniffles
“This is the Police, what is your emergency?” The recipient on the call starts.
