A few years later...

"So, class, I hope you guys are working on the assignment I gave you last week, " I asked the students.

"Yes ma'am." the class responded.

"Remember, you guys have to submit your assignments on Thursday of

next week. No extension will be given to anyone," I informed. "Is that clear?"

"Certainly ma'am."

The bell rang. The students then started to make their way out of the class.

After collecting my things, I exited the class and proceeded to the staff room.

As I entered the staff room, I saw some of the female professors in a group gossiping about God knows what. I chuckled and shook my head at them as I approached my table.

One of the Professors, Mrs. Bhatt saw me. I sighed as I already had a feeling about what she was about to ask me.

"Arreee, Miss Sharma, how are you? By the way, you didn't tell us you were married once." She announced in her high-pitched, annoying voice to the whole room.

You've got to be kidding me.

I gave Mrs. Bhatt a tight-lipped smile, "Yes. I was." internally cursing her whole existence.

She looked oddly pleased with herself for some reason. Like she was expecting something like getting a divorce might happen, especially to girls like me.

She had a problem with me since I joined the staff almost a year ago. She thought I was too young to join the staff and teach the college students. She had this whole perception about me that I was not good enough and couldn't meet their standards.

The actual issue was that I was the staff's favourite, and Mrs. Bhatt didn't like that. She felt jealous, and she didn't hesitate to show it.

Grow up, Mrs. Bhatt.

"Tsk tsk tsk." Mrs Bhatt tutted, "It must have been hard for you na. Throwing everything away because of one mistake. But don't worry; I'm here for you if you have any problems. Muje batana tum, Okay?"

Dear god, she couldn't sound much phoney, even the other professors there rolled their eyes at her. They all knew how much of a bitch she was. The entire college knew.

"I'll take your concern just as seriously as you do Mrs. Bhatt," I stated, grinning at her.

That wiped the cocky smile off her face.

Take that bitch.

I had finished for the day and was ready to head home. After saying my goodbyes to everyone, I walked toward my car when I heard someone call my name. Turning around, I saw Mrs. Maheshwari approaching me.
