** guys I'm so uneducated on Japanese grades/scores/exams etc so I'm going to go by it with the UK GCSE scoring for example 1-9, 4 a pass and 5 a strong pass etc,
I take my seat next to the two first years underneath a tree on the grass— I made sure to place my jacket down first though. I place my lunch onto my lap and sit with my legs crossed before glancing down at my watch. '1:45pm— a bit early to end my fast, but it will have to do. I'll go burn it off later.'
"What did you get, y/n?" Yamaguchi smiles at me, I watch as he takes a bite out of his kimchi dish.
"I got one of my favs— a chicken nugget wrap." I grin at him and grab said food. We both turn to Tsuki, and I wonder if he will participate in any conversation for the next hour. To my surprise, he speaks. "Strawberries."
Tadashi has an adorable frown on his face as he shoves one of his rice balls towards the taller blonde. "But tsuki! That's not enough, you need to eat more!"
'I unconsciously zone out when I hear those words. Yeah, strawberries aren't a meal, they are low calorie. I'd love to have strawberries right now. Why is it annoying me that he's caring about tsuki not eating? Do I want someone to notice? I can't do, or I would have told Kiyoko. I'm so confus-'
"You okay?"
I jump out my thoughts, looking back at the two boys with wide eyes. "Y-yes. Sorry, I zoned out."
"If you say so," the blonde shrugs, biting into another strawberry. I haven't had any of my food yet, I can't bring myself to eat it. But I'm hungry— so hungry. 'Just eat it. It's okay, calories can be burnt. You'll make up for it, pretend to be ill and miss dinner.'
"Y/N-san did you receive your grades yet? I saw you panicking earlier.." Yamaguchi takes another bite of his food. 'I'd love to be able to eat so much like that. He's still so thin, too.'
I sigh and place my head in my hands. "Not yet, apparently there's a delay.. I just need to get a 5 in maths and hopefully a 7-7 in science."
"Oh right, you're in the higher combined science aren't you?— that's so cool! I'm only in the foundation class.."
"Yeah I am. You're pretty good at maths though, it's nice to study with you haha. Much easier than Hinata and Kageyama— and tanaka or noya to be honest,"
"Why do you bother tutoring them? You're easily much smarter. Doesn't it annoy you having to reteach the basics?"
I don't think he meant it in a rude way, but the stoic tone was in tsukishimas voice made me a bit shocked at the way he spoke about the others. "Definitely, but it's nice to help them. I love when they improve on tests knowing it's because I could help them, y'know?"
He shrugs with a small nod, putting the rest of his lunch away.
"Y/n! Can you come help us set up something?" I turn to Yukie who is sweating slightly and biting into some sort of chocolate bar. "Sure, bye guys."
"Oh- you didn't get to eat anything." Yamaguchi notes as I get off the ground and shake my jacket free of any possible grass. "It's fine, I'll eat it after setting up whatever they need help with."
I follow after the girl— we aren't very close compared to how I am with kaori, but I like her. She's nice to speak to and very funny.
"What are we doing?"
She turns her head at me with a wide grin. "Pranking the boys, it's going to be epic!"
"Really?" My eyes widen and I grin right back at her. "What are we going to do?"
"We need you to go seduce Kuroo so we can get into Nekoma's room," she says with ease and an Innocent smile.
"WHAT?"
-
I glance around at the almost empty gym. I was assisting with putting the equipment away again, and while Kiyoko was meant to be helping me put the nets and what-not onto the higher shelves Tananka had made it his mission to distract her for whatever reason.
I walk out of the closet and notice the closest group of people that are still in the gym are Kenma, Kuroo, Daiki from Shinzen and Akashi. I wonder where the owl-head is.
"Hey guys?" I gain their attention immediately, making me feel slightly intimidated. "U-uh can someone help me put some of this stuff away? Sorry but I can't reach,"
"Leave it to me, short-stuff." Daiki grins, placing his hands on his hips. I furrow my eyebrows in cringe. "Excuse you— short stuff?"
"Stop being an ass Daiki. No wonder your girlfriend broke up with you," Kuroo snickers, side eying the male. They begin to bicker—playfully, I think, and I hesitantly reach out to kenma trying to draw his attention from the game he's playing on his phone.
"Sorry, can you help me?"
-
"Is that the last one?" His monotone voice calls out as he places the net into the box I couldn't reach. I nod, "yeah."
He climbs down and stretches his arms slightly. I thank him and instead of walking away like I expected him to do, he tilts his head at me with flat eyes. I clear my throat and nod awkwardly, about to turn around when he calls out to me.
"y/n.. is there something going on with you and Kuroo?"
"H-huh?! Where did you get that from!" I feel my face erupt in flames of embarrassment.
"I noticed you keep staring at him during matches, when your meant to be looking at your own team." Curse him for being so observant.
"Uh I think you might be a little confused— if I'm looking at your team it's because you're playing good and I'm analysing your strategies." I mean, that's kind of a lie but it's what I should be doing so same difference, right?
"Hm." He hums to himself and it goes quiet for a small moment before he lets out a surprising sound— a small laugh. "You're a bad liar," he says, walking out past me without another word.
I stand still for a few moments trying to will my face to go back to its natural colour, then follow suit. I head to the bench and clutch my clipboard. As I bend down to grab it I feel my vision go blurry and my hearing feeling far away. Before I can reach the bench my legs give out from me— again, and I end up on my side with an audible clutter as I land, letting out a small 'oof.'
"AH-! Y/N?" Kaori runs over to me, pepping me up against her own body. She looks traumatised. "What happened! Are you okay??"
"I'm fine.. my legs are sore so they gave out."
Soon enough all of the remaining members in the gymnasium had came over to me. Kuroo bends down to me and places his hand across my forehead, making me blush avoiding eye contact. Why does he make me feel so weird— go away stupid crush.
His eyebrows are furrowed and his eyes are burrowing into mine intensely— I can almost hear the words he wants to say, wants to, but won't. "This is the second time you've collapsed."
"You feel a little hot, I'll get you an ice pack— okay y/n?"
I nod at him slightly and he looks reluctant but slowly pulls his hand away, heading out the gym rather quickly. Yeah my face is hot because of you, you great big piece of hot meat-
"Are you sure you're okay, did you ever get to eat lunch?" Kaori ponders with a worried expression. I open my mouth to say no, I'm not hungry— but my stomach decides to reply for me with a rather loud rumble that makes everyone laugh at me.
I hide my face in my hands, today's been one big embarrassment. "Haha come on, I'll help you walk to the Kitchen— I'm sure that's where your knight in shining armours gone anyway."
"Kaori!- what's that supposed to m-"
"Hush hush, I know everything." She winks, helping me stand and placing one of her peculiar strong arms around my neck to stabilise my body.
