Alyssa's POV
My drive to school felt better than usual, ever since me and Jas made up it's like a weight just got lifted off my shoulders. When I got to school my first period teacher told me that apparently I signed up to be an office aid and to just go to the library. I was confused but who am I to argue about having one less class.

When I walked into the library I was met with a unfamiliar face. She was sitting by herself looking at her phone with a bored expression. I'm not the kinda person to approach people first but it was something about this girl that I liked.

"Are you new here?" I asked while setting my stuff down. She looked up at me and nodded.

"Yeah, it's my first day..." Her voice was soft but steady, and I could see a hint of vulnerability behind her bored expression. "I'm Ciara."

My eyes widened slightly, I heard that name before and everything started clicking in my brain. "Oh, you're London's people."

She rolled her eyes slightly and sighed heavily. "Unfortunately..." Ciara echoed, and her eyes darted around the library, as if she was searching for an escape. It was clear that being associated with London wasn't exactly a badge of honor in her eyes.

Damn. Now I felt bad for this girl. Not because she's new, but because she's related to London. It's obvious though that Ciara isn't like London.

"I'm Alyssa, it was good meeting you, Ciara." I gave her a wave before grabbing what I needed from the library and walking towards the main office.

When I made it to the office I stopped in my tracks when I saw Kory sitting at a table on his phone. I had to fight back a smile and play it cool but I was screaming on the inside when I finally saw my man that's not my man but is my man in my mind.

I cleared my throat and smiled when he looked up at me. a warm spark igniting in my chest. "Hi, Kory. How are you?

He leaned back in his chair and gave me a little smile that had my stomach doing backflips. "Good, what you doing in here?"

"I'm a office aid now apparently. What are you doing in here?"

Kory looked back down at his phone, and I don't know if it's just me but it definitely seemed like his smile got a little bit bigger.

"I'm an office aid too, guess we're gonna be working together."

If my stomach was doing backflips before, imagine what it's doing after I heard that. That's three class periods plus lunch that me and Kory have together, it's looking like the universe is on my side today. I managed to keep my composure and sit beside Kory while looking through papers.

"What exactly do officers aids do anyway?" I asked while looking at Kory. He set his phone down and was now fully looking at me.(oh damn 😶)

"We really just print papers from the library, stamp them, and deliver them to different classrooms."

"Ouuuh sounds so exciting." I say in a sarcastic tone. As boring as it all sounded it still meant I had one less class to worry about though.

Kory chuckled, a low, warm sound that made my heart race. "Hey, it's not about the job—it's really about who you're with, right?" His gaze held mine for a moment, and I felt a flutter in my chest.

"I mean I guess..." I said trying to sound as casual as possible.

He grinned and leaned a little closer to me. "Why didn't you ever tell me to follow you back?"

I had to pull away and rethink my life decisions when he said that because how did he know about that? Kory's account is private and he only follows a handful of people and I NEVER brought up following him, or even wanting to be mutuals.
