After what happened with Alice, Ashlyn grabbed your hand and led you out of the classroom and through the school until the two of you were sitting on a bench in front of the school.
"I'm gonna call my dad to come pick us up. Is that okay?" Ashlyn looks at you with her phone in her hand. "You don't have to, it's fine, they're just curious..." you said with your legs pulled to your chin and your arms wrapped around them as you lean your head against your knee.
Ashlyn sighs before speaking." No, she knew what she was asking you was out of line." You take a moment to think before giving in and letting her call her dad. "Okay go ahead and call"
"Are you sure?" Ashlyn looks at you
"Yeah, I was bound to meet your parents eventually anyway" you smile at her tiredly "okay" and with that said she calls her dad, it rings a couple times before you faintly hear her dad talking.
You listen to the one side of the conversation you can hear until Ashlyn hangs up and turns her head to look at you. "He's coming now all we have to do is go get our stuff and wait, you stay here, and I'll grab our things, okay?" You nod and she gets up walking back in the school to get your things. She's only gone for 5 minutes and as she walks up to you, a jeep parks in front of the two of you.
"That's my dad" you stand up and the two of you sit in the back of the jeep. "Thanks, dad, for picking us up," Ashlyn said, being the first to break the silence. "It's no problem trooper" he looks at you through the rear-view mirror before introducing himself. "your names (y/n) right? I'm Mike it's nice to meet you"
"It's nice to meet you too, thanks for picking us up I appreciate it" you say quietly. Mike has short light brown hair and green eyes. "It's no problem, don't worry about it." Mike says with a smile. The rest of the car ride to Ashlyn's was silent but you didn't mind it felt peaceful.
Once the three of you made it to their house you got out of the car and walked inside behind Mike and Ashlyn. Ashlyn's mom was sitting on the couch on her phone before looking up as you guys entered the house.
"Hey mom" Ashlyn says before introducing the both of us. "This is (y/n) she's- "she pauses for a second before finishing her sentence "she's my friend, (y/n) this is my mom Emma" Emma stands up and holds out her hand for you to shake. You notice she has beautiful red hair and blue eyes. "It's nice to meet you Mrs. Banner" you say politely while shaking her hand "it's nice to meet you to (y/n)" Emma smiles.
"Alright you two why don't you tell me what happened at school that made you want to leave" Mike says sitting on the couch with Emma. Ashlyn sighs before sitting on the couch across from them and gestures for you to sit with her so you do.
"Is it okay if I tell them?" Ashlyn asks. You look at her before nodding.
"(y/n) and her parents got into a car accident about a month ago her parents didn't make it" Ashlyn starts. Mike and Emma's eyes widen not expecting that they both look at you before turning back to Ashlyn for more information. "The kids in class have been talking about it since it happened and are overall being nosy. But today a girl in our class asked (y/n) whether or not she was in the car with her parents when it happened, so I took her out front and then called you dad" after Ashlyn is done explaining there's a minute of silence before both her parents come and sit on either side of you on the couch.
The two of them hug you for a minute before Mike puts his hand on your head. "I'm sorry kiddo I know losing your parents is tough" your eyes start to water you try to keep the tears in, but they fall anyway.
"I miss them..." you choke out between sobs. "I know honey" Emma says softly rubbing your back.
Ashlyn's Pov:
Ashlyn glances over at you, you're fast asleep on the couch after a good crying session.
"How long have you been friends with her?" Emma asks quietly. Ashlyn looks over at her mom before replying "about a month, we became friends a week after her parents passed... honestly I was surprised she was even at school" Mike walks into the living room from the kitchen with a question of his own. "Do you know where she's staying?"
Ashlyn thinks about it for a second before remembering. "Yeah, she's staying at the orphanage near the school. It's not close enough to walk from there to the school though so she rides the bus."
"Yeah, I know that place it's pretty peaceful" Mike says
'I wonder if they would take her in... I'll wait and ask when she's been coming over for a while' Ashlyn looks at you while thinking this. She enjoys your presence. The two of you have a lot in common. You're both anti-social for starters and you have the same taste in music, so she'd be fine with her parents taking you in.
'Maybe...if she wants...we can adopt her. I shouldn't get ahead of myself, but I wouldn't mind it. Ashlyn stares at you with a soft expression. She really has started to like being friends with you and She hopes you feel the same way too.
