MEGHNA ~The class had just wrapped up, and I made my way toward the canteen, remembering that Adam had asked me to meet him for lunch.
Yes, Adam—surprisingly, I think I’ve made a friend on my very first day. There's something refreshing about him. He seems like a genuinely nice guy, and to be honest, he’s not only kind but also incredibly handsome. His easygoing nature and sweet conversations make him enjoyable to be around.
As I entered the bustling canteen, my eyes scanned the room for an empty seat. It was crowded, with groups of students chatting and laughing, creating a lively atmosphere. After a bit of searching, I finally spotted an available seat tucked away in the corner.
I sat down, feeling the slight hum of excitement that comes with being in a new place. To pass the time while waiting for Adam, I pulled out my phone and started scrolling through it absentmindedly, trying to focus on anything other than the nerves fluttering in my stomach.
"Hey, beautiful,"
Adam's voice suddenly pulled me out of my focus on the phone.
"Oh, hi,"
I replied, smiling as I looked up at him.
He sat down across from me, flashing those adorable dimples again. He really did have a charm about him, effortlessly cute with those dimples.
"So, Ms. Meghna, what do you feel like eating?"
He asked, leaning forward with a playful grin.
"Anything, really. I’m sure you know what’s good around here. You can order whatever you think is best,"
I replied, trusting his judgment.
"Alright then, give me a minute,"
He said, flashing me another smile before heading over to the counter. As I watched him walk away, I couldn’t help but feel like maybe I was finally settling into this new chapter of my life.
I went back to scrolling through my phone, waiting for Adam to return with the food, when a voice interrupted my thoughts.
"Hey, Adam was here a second ago—where did he go?"
A girl’s voice came from in front of me.
I looked up and saw a stunning girl with curly hair standing there. She wore cargo pants and a crop top, giving off a tough, confident vibe.
"He went to grab lunch,"
I replied, a bit surprised.
"Ah, okay. By the way, I’m Hazel, Adam’s cousin,"
She said with a smile.
"Oh, hello! I’m Meghna,"
I replied,
"I know, he told me about you,"
She said casually, as if this was the most normal thing in the world.
Wait, when did he even mention me? We just met today! I'm processing the fact that Adam had already mentioned me to someone.
"Can I sit here?"
She asked.
Oh my god, I realized how rude I’d been. This girl had been standing there the whole time, and I hadn’t even invited her to sit down.
"Of course! I’m sorry, I should’ve asked you to sit earlier,"
I said, feeling a bit flustered.
"It’s totally fine,"
