THE NEXT TWO DAYS ON THE AMTRAK weren't peaceful. Well, they were in the literal sense but Percy still felt like they could be attacked out of nowhere. He felt like everyone was watching them, waiting for their next move.

Not to mention he had to keep his head down and hope no one noticed him. It was kinda difficult when your face was plastered on the front page of the entire East coast's newspapers. The Trenton Register-News showed a photo of him with wild eyes and some sort of blurred weapon in his hands.

Twelve-year-old Percy Jackson, wanted for
questioning in the Long Island disappearance of his mother two weeks ago, is shown here fleeing from the bus where he accosted several elderly female passengers. The bus exploded on an east New Jersey roadside shortly after Jackson fled the scene. Based on eyewitness accounts, police believe the boy may be traveling with two teenage accomplices. His stepfather, Gabe Ugliano, has offered a cash reward for information leading to his capture.

Stupid Gabe. Of course he'd only care about any money he could get from all of this, not about his missing wife.

"It'll be alright," Cassandra told him. "If the gods can't stop us, then neither can mortal police."

"How'd you know what I was thinking?" he asked her.

She smiled and said, "You have your frowny face on. Come on, play tic tac toe with me."

Cassandra pulled out a pen that she must have grabbed from Medusa's place and turned the newspaper to a relatively blank page that only had a few recipes on it.

"I'm X," she announced as she drew out the board. "Obviously."

"Obviously."

"And X goes first," Cassandra continued. She scribbled down her X and handed him the pen.

"Obviously."

Percy saw that she'd taken the bottom right corner. Okay. Naturally, he put his O next to hers.

When he gave her back the pen, she smiled, which probably wasn't a good sign when you're competing against someone. She leaned over and put an X in another box.

The top right corner. Not bad, but he could see where she was going with this. He put his O in between her two Xs.

A brilliant grin lit up her face as she marked her X and Percy was so stunned by it that it took him a few seconds to take the pen back from her.
