Returning to Hogwarts felt different. The castle, usually a place of wonder and magic, now felt heavy with tension. Umbridge's reign as High Inquisitor was tightening its grip on the school, and the Ministry's increasing presence made everyone uneasy. Despite the darkness creeping into their world, Dumbledore's Army gave Lainee and her friends a sense of purpose—a way to fight back.

Lainee threw herself into her studies and the D.A. meetings with renewed vigor. The Room of Requirement had become a refuge, a place where she and the others could practice spells in secret, preparing for the battles they knew were coming. Harry pushed them harder, knowing they needed to be ready for whatever lay ahead.

Lainee worked tirelessly to master every spell Harry taught them, determined to be as strong as she could for the fight that was looming. One evening, after hours of practice, Lainee finally succeeded in producing a full Patronus. Her silver hare bounded across the Room of Requirement, its light casting a soft glow over the group.

"That's brilliant!" Harry exclaimed, clapping her on the back. "You've really got a knack for this, Lainee."

Lainee grinned, her heart swelling with pride. "Thanks, Harry. I've been practicing."

Ron, ever the joker, smirked. "Must be hanging around with George too much—he's always been the stubborn one."

Lainee laughed, feeling a warmth spread through her. Despite the darkness around them, moments like this reminded her why they were fighting—to protect each other, to protect their world.

But the tension at Hogwarts continued to mount. Umbridge's detentions became more brutal, and the fear among the students grew. One evening, after Harry had returned from yet another detention, Lainee found him sitting alone by the fire in the common room, his hand still red and raw from the cursed quill Umbridge had forced him to use.

"Are you okay?" Lainee asked, sitting beside him.

Harry nodded, though his expression was grim. "Just tired of it all. Tired of always having to fight."

Lainee reached out and squeezed his hand, offering him a small smile. "We'll get through this, Harry. Together."

He looked at her, his green eyes filled with determination. "Thanks, Lainee. You're a good friend."

She smiled back, her heart full. "So are you."
