The tension in the Wizarding world was palpable. The Ministry was denying Voldemort's return, but everyone in Dumbledore's Army knew the truth. The battles were coming, and soon, they would all be forced to choose sides.

Lainee's bond with George grew stronger by the day. They spent every free moment together, whether it was sneaking out to the courtyard for stolen kisses or sitting quietly by the fire in the Gryffindor common room, just enjoying each other's company.

One evening, as the sun set over the castle, casting long shadows across the grounds, George pulled Lainee aside, his face serious.

"I don't know what's going to happen next," he said, his voice low. "But I do know that I don't want to face any of it without you."

Lainee looked up at him, her heart swelling with emotion. "We'll get through it, George. Whatever happens, we'll face it together."

He smiled softly, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. "I love you, Lainee."

Lainee's breath caught. She had known it, deep down, but hearing the words made her heart leap. "I love you too, George."

They kissed, the world around them fading away for a moment as they held onto each other, knowing that whatever lay ahead, they would face it side by side.

As the summer holidays approached and the dark days loomed closer, Lainee knew that this was only the beginning of the storm. But with George by her side, and her friends in Dumbledore's Army standing with her, she felt ready for whatever was to come.
