The final battle came sooner than any of them expected.

Lainee had returned to Hogwarts after spending the holidays at the Burrow, and everything seemed to unravel from there. The castle buzzed with whispers of Voldemort's forces closing in, and before long, the battle was upon them.

Lainee stood alongside Harry, Ron, Hermione, and the rest of Dumbledore's Army as the chaos of the battle erupted around them. Spells flew through the air, and the sounds of explosions and shouts echoed through the halls. The once grand castle was being torn apart, but Lainee's mind was focused only on one thing—survival.

Amid the chaos, Lainee fought with everything she had. She deflected curses, sent Stunning Spells flying at Death Eaters, and protected the students around her. But the fear that gripped her heart was for George. She hadn't seen him since the battle began, and every moment without him felt like an eternity.

At one point, Lainee found herself fighting side by side with Hermione. The two of them had become a formidable team, their spells complementing each other's perfectly. But even as they fought, Lainee's heart raced with worry.

The battle seemed to stretch on for an eternity, the hours blending in a blur of curses and shouts. And then, finally, through the haze of smoke and destruction, Lainee saw him.

George was fighting alongside Fred, their wands flashing with precision as they held their ground against a group of Death Eaters. Relief flooded through Lainee's body, but it was short-lived. As she made her way toward them, a bright green light streaked through the air—aimed directly at George.

"No!" Lainee screamed, her voice breaking as she thrust her wand forward, deflecting the Killing Curse just in time. George stumbled, his eyes wide with shock, but he was unharmed.

"George!" Lainee cried, her heart pounding as she reached him.

His face broke into a relieved grin. "Blimey, Lainee! I thought—"

Before he could finish, Lainee threw her arms around him, holding him tight, her heart still racing. "I thought I lost you," she whispered, her voice trembling.

George pressed his lips to her forehead, his voice shaky but full of love. "You didn't. I'm here. And I'm not leaving you."

They fought side by side, their wands moving in perfect sync as they battled through the onslaught. The battle raged on, and though Lainee's body was exhausted, her mind was sharp. She couldn't afford to lose focus—not when everything was at stake.

Hours passed in a blur of spells and screams. And then, finally, as the sun began to rise over the shattered castle, the battle ended.

Voldemort was defeated.

The survivors gathered in the Great Hall, the weight of the battle heavy on their shoulders. Lainee sat with George, her hand gripping his tightly as they watched the aftermath unfold. There were tears, grief, and heartache, but there was also hope.

They had won. But the cost had been high.

As the sunlight filtered through the broken windows of the Great Hall, Lainee leaned her head on George's shoulder, her heart heavy with the losses they had suffered. But in that moment, she knew one thing for certain.

They had survived. And they would face the future together.
