After the shower, I stepped out, the towel wrapped securely around my lower body. The cool air hit my skin, and for a moment, I felt somewhat refreshed. But that feeling quickly faded when I heard noise coming from my room. A frown creased my forehead as I cautiously entered.
There stood Shanaya, pacing my room in a silk nightdress that hugged her body perfectly. My throat went dry. Remember, she’s younger than you, Kunal. Stay focused. But it was hard to concentrate when she looked like that, her hair cascading over her shoulders, her expression a mix of anxiety and determination.
I cleared my throat to get her attention. “What are you doing here?” I asked, trying to keep my voice steady despite the chaos in my mind.
She spun around to face me, but before she could answer, her eyes roamed over my body, lingering on my well-built chest. I felt a rush of heat rise to my cheeks, but I quickly tried to shake it off. “Uh, you alright?” I asked, bringing her attention back.
She played with her fingers, looking like she was thinking hard about something. “I wasn’t feeling so good,” she finally said, but I could tell she was lying.
I quickly pulled on a shirt, the fabric stretching across my chest as I raised my eyes to meet hers. “Can I change my pants?” I asked, trying to keep the situation light.
“Yeah, sure,” she replied quickly, turning around, and I took that moment to change, hoping to keep my head straight.
Once I was done, I walked over to her. I tapped her shoulder to get her attention, and when she turned around, her head bumped right into my chest. The surprise in her eyes was priceless.
“Whoa!” she exclaimed, stepping back in surprise. But in her haste to get away, she tripped, and before I knew it, she was yanking on my shirt, pulling me down with her. We landed on the bed, and I found myself hovering over her, my body covering hers completely.
“Why are you so stubborn?” I growled, my voice rough from the unexpected situation. Her shocked expression morphed into a grin as she said, “Well, this position isn’t bad, either.”
I sighed, feeling the weight of the moment. “Get off me,” I muttered, pushing myself up and off her.
She sat up, her face a picture of disappointment. “But Kunal, you’re not even trying to help! A girl is saying she’s scared, and you’re just... doing nothing!”
I turned to her, my eyes darkening as I took in her frame. “Trust me, I’m helping you enough. Just go back to your room. Nothing will happen.”
Shanaya crossed her arms, her defiance palpable. “You don’t get it, do you? I feel like I’m in a horror movie! You’re supposed to be my hero or something!”
“A hero? Really?” I rolled my eyes, trying to mask the growing fondness I felt for her with sarcasm. “Look, I’m not a superhero. I’m just trying to keep my sanity intact.”
