The morning light brought a deceptive calm over the safe house, but Y/N, Jungkook, and Taehyung knew better than to relax. The plan they had discussed throughout the night still weighed heavily on all of them. Namjoon had left early to gather information from his contacts, leaving the trio alone to process what was ahead.
Y/N paced the small living room, her mind racing with thoughts of Minho and the looming danger that seemed to cling to them like a shadow. Each step felt heavier than the last, and the tension in the room was palpable.
Jungkook sat at the small kitchen table, his eyes glued to his phone, constantly checking for updates. Every now and then, he would glance over at Y/N, his expression unreadable. There was an air of distance between them, one that hadn't been there before. Despite everything they had been through, the rift between them only seemed to widen. His protective nature surfaced at the most unexpected times, yet his cold demeanor always left her confused, unsure of where they stood.
Taehyung, on the other hand, remained quiet but observant. He sat near the window, keeping a careful watch over the street below. His usually easygoing demeanor had shifted since their arrival at the safe house. He was tense, more alert than ever before.
"Namjoon should've been back by now," Jungkook muttered, breaking the silence. His frustration was evident, the edge in his voice cutting through the room.
"He'll be back," Taehyung responded without looking away from the window. "He knows what he's doing. We have to trust him."
Y/N stopped pacing and turned to face them. "What if something happened? What if Minho found him?"
Jungkook's jaw clenched, and he set his phone down on the table, leaning back in his chair. "We can't assume the worst yet."
"But we need a backup plan," Y/N insisted. "We can't just sit here waiting. If Minho knows where we are, we're as good as dead."
Taehyung glanced over at Y/N, his eyes softening for a brief moment. "She's right, Jungkook. We should be prepared for anything."
Jungkook sighed heavily, running a hand through his hair. "Fine. But we stick to the plan for now. If we don't hear from Jihoon by noon, we move."
Y/N bit her lip, nodding in agreement, though the uncertainty still gnawed at her. She glanced out of the window, the city bustling with life below them. It was a stark contrast to the turmoil in her heart.
The hours passed slowly, each minute dragging as the tension grew. Noon came and went, and still, there was no sign of Namjoon. Anxiety crept into Y/N's chest, and the silence between the three of them was heavy.
Finally, Jungkook stood up, grabbing his jacket. "We're not waiting any longer. We leave now."
Taehyung nodded in agreement, quickly gathering their things. Y/N followed suit, her heart pounding in her chest. The thought of stepping back into the open made her stomach churn, but they couldn't stay here. It wasn't safe.
They moved quietly and efficiently, their footsteps barely audible as they made their way to the door. Jungkook went first, his eyes scanning the hallway for any signs of danger before motioning for Y/N and Taehyung to follow.
The streets outside felt colder, more ominous than they had before. Y/N stuck close to Jungkook, her hand brushing against his arm as they walked. His body was tense, every muscle coiled and ready to spring into action at the slightest provocation. Taehyung brought up the rear, keeping a careful watch over their surroundings.
"Where are we going?" Y/N whispered, her voice barely audible over the noise of the city.
"There's another contact Namjoon mentioned," Jungkook replied without looking at her. "A safe house on the other side of town. It's risky, but we don't have any other choice."
Y/N swallowed hard, the unease settling in her stomach like a heavy stone. The idea of wandering around the city without Namjoon's guidance made her nervous, but they didn't have the luxury of staying in one place.
As they navigated the crowded streets, Y/N couldn't shake the feeling that they were being watched. Every passerby seemed like a potential threat, every shadow an enemy lurking in the dark. She clutched the strap of her bag tightly, her senses on high alert.
Jungkook must have noticed her discomfort because he reached out, his hand brushing against hers for the briefest of moments. It wasn't an act of affection, but rather one of reassurance. His fingers lingered just long enough for her to feel his warmth before he pulled away, his eyes scanning the area around them.
"We're almost there," Taehyung said quietly from behind, his voice steady but cautious.
They turned down a narrow alleyway, the noise of the busy streets fading into the background. The walls around them were graffitied and cracked, giving the area a sense of abandonment. Y/N's pulse quickened as she scanned their surroundings. It felt too quiet, too isolated.
Jungkook reached for the door of a nondescript building, his hand poised to knock when the sound of footsteps echoed from the other end of the alley. Y/N froze, her heart hammering in her chest. Jungkook turned sharply, his body moving to shield her instinctively.
A group of men emerged from the shadows, their expressions cold and menacing. At the head of the group was a familiar face—Minho.
"Well, well," Minho sneered, his eyes locking onto Y/N. "I was wondering how long it would take for you to crawl out of hiding."
Jungkook's entire body tensed, his jaw clenched as he stepped in front of Y/N. "You don't want to do this, Minho."
Minho's smile widened, a dark, twisted grin. "Oh, but I do. You see, I don't like unfinished business. And Y/N here... she has a debt to pay."
Y/N's heart raced as she felt Jungkook shift in front of her, his body a solid wall of protection. But as Minho's men closed in, it was clear that they were outnumbered, and escape seemed impossible.
"Let her go," Jungkook growled, his voice low and dangerous.
Minho's laugh echoed off the walls, cold and devoid of any warmth. "I don't think so. She's mine. Always has been."
Y/N's blood ran cold at his words. The possessiveness in his tone sent a wave of fear through her, but before she could react, Jungkook lunged forward. He moved like a predator, swift and precise, taking down the first man that approached him with a single punch.
Chaos erupted in the alley as Jungkook fought his way through the crowd, his movements brutal and efficient. Taehyung joined the fray, his own skills in combat quickly becoming evident as he held his ground against Minho's men.
But it wasn't enough. For every man they took down, two more seemed to appear from the shadows.
Y/N was frozen in place, fear and adrenaline warring inside her as she watched the violence unfold. She wanted to fight, to help, but the weight of her own helplessness kept her rooted to the spot.
Minho's eyes flicked toward her, and in an instant, he moved. His hand closed around her arm, yanking her forward with a force that sent her stumbling.
"Let go of me!" she screamed, struggling against his iron grip.
But Minho's smile only widened as he pulled her closer, his breath hot against her ear as he whispered, "You belong to me, Y/N. And no one—not even Jungkook—can save you now."
