I'm sitting at Wing Stop waiting for Chris. I've been here for like 10 minutes. I know his ass aint stand me up. I get on my phone and play Spongebob moves in for a while. After about 5 more minutes, i scan the restaurant. Come to find out he's sitting like halfway across the restaurant. He's on his phone. I was about to call his name when my phone starts ringing. And his name pops up. I smile.

I answer the phone " look to your left" is all I say. I watch in amusement at the confused look on his face. He looks to his right. "That's not your left " i giggle. He turns his head the right way and finally sees me. He grabs his drink coming over to my table.

"How did you not see me?" I ask.

"I didn't recognize you with all that shit on your face." He said with a shrug then took a sip from his soda.

I scrunch my face up at him. "That was rude." I said.

"It was also true. Maybe a little over exaggerated, but none the less true." He took another long sip.

"So you don't like it?"

"Let's just say if you did it for my opinion, you wasted your time." I laid my head on the table.

"You're a real confidence booster you know that?" I asked him slight attitude in my tone. For whatever reason, his words are sticking with me. More than they should.

I hear him chuckle lightly. "If your getting dressed for people's opinions you might as well run around naked." He spoke philosophically.

"And you'd love that huh?" I asked in a muffled voice.

"Damn right" is what i thought i heard him say. But i don't really know.

"But i like the braids. They look cute on you." I slowly picked my head back up.

"Thanks asshole. I spent all night doing them." I smiled at him.

"And I'm peeping that grill, pimpin."

"Aha. Yea they came today. I forgot i ordered them."

"See, I mean you're not ugly. you're actually very attractive. You just look better without make up."

"Chris, i don't do makeup because I'm insecure. I do it cause it's fun and i want to. There for your opinion is no longer valid."

He looked at me and smiled this cute crooked smile. Even for someone who is dark and ominous like Chris. He has a light in him that i don't even think he could see. He's not the malicious person he wants people to think he is. He has an armor he uses to protect himself from hurt. But his intentions are golden.

He brings a different side out in me. Things I'd never do or think of he makes me do. He bends my will without saying a word. If you look in his eyes you'll find yourself getting lost in them. I want to help heal that hurt. Bring out the light in him he's refusing to see.

"Chris..."

"Hmm?"

"Do you trust me?"

He didn't respond. After a while i didn't think he heard me. I'm actually glad he didn't. Cause what i was about to say next wasn't that smart. We sat there for a while. If we had ordered anything it would be ready by now. As a matter of fact. Where were the employees? I haven't seen anyone behind that register at all.

"Yes" he says breaking my train of thought.

"Huh"

"Yes Jhene, i trust you."

I hesitate unsure if i should answer him. I decide to go with my gut.

"Good... Cause I'm trusting you too." I took in a deep breath. "I'm going to give my all into this friendship cause i think you deserve it. I see something in you that no one else can. And it draws me to you."

"Friendship?" He looked as if he was holding his breath. Not sure if he should finish his thought. "Jhene i don't wanna be your friend."

I was slightly taken aback by the statement. But wasn't surprised either.

I smile looking at my lap. I bite my lip and glance up at him. He's looking at me already. "Then let's work on that." I say.

He smiles back at me as his dimples sink in deep. Then it hits me.

"I want to show you something."
