The JCJenson/Weyland-Yutani research outpost hung in the inky void like a dark monolith, an unassuming speck against the starry backdrop, entirely overshadowed by the cold, metallic hull of the ship docking at its side. The vessel slid into place with all the precision of a predator moving in for the kill, extending its docking bridge toward the station’s port.
From within the shadows of the ship, a figure emerged: a man in an unassuming blue jacket, his face marked by an austere calmness. To the untrained eye, he seemed an ordinary company man. But his eyes—too precise, too calculating—were far from ordinary. This was David, the synthetic creation whose sinister genius had brought the perfect organism, the Xenomorph, into existence. And here he was, masked under his adopted persona, Walter.
As David stepped off the ship and into the outpost’s docking bay, Ms. Yutani and Dr. Finch awaited him with an air of barely veiled apprehension. Yutani, ever the polished executive, met him with a practiced smile that only occasionally slipped, revealing the faint unease in her otherwise flawless demeanor. Dr. Finch, however, was less composed—nervous energy bristled around him like static, his fingers twitching as he clutched a tablet filled with lab notes.
David nodded curtly at them both, getting straight to the point. “Ms. Yutani. Dr. Finch. I trust everything is progressing as planned?”
Ms. Yutani gestured for Dr. Finch to provide the report, her gaze lingering on David with a curiosity barely hidden behind her professional poise.
“Yes, sir,” Finch stammered, fiddling with his tablet to call up the latest data. “We’ve made strides in, um, reproduction. We’ve managed to procure a number of ovamorphs for study, but there’s only one adult specimen… the Queen, actually.”
David’s eyes narrowed, and he accepted the tablet, scrolling through the report with a look of detached scrutiny. “And what of the other specimen I was informed of?”
Finch hesitated, and Yutani cast him a sharp look. “Explain,” she prompted.
The doctor cleared his throat. “It… well, it seems they were capable of… mating, sir. The Queen was bred by the drone we recovered. The resulting union,” Finch paused, uneasy, “ended with the Queen killing the male after the process was complete.”
David looked up, eyebrows raised in intrigue. The discovery was unexpected. “Interesting,” he murmured, mostly to himself. He didn’t remember designing anything resembling sex organs or a sexual reproductive behavior into the Xenomorph design. And yet, here they were, adapting in ways that went beyond even his initial vision. He allowed a small, pleased smile to creep onto his face.
“Fascinating,” he mused aloud, almost amused by his own creatures’ evolution. “They’ve exceeded my expectations.” His fingers tapped the tablet thoughtfully before he handed it back to Finch. “You’ll need more Xenomorphs for testing. Take the six least useful personnel and escort them to the Queen’s chamber. Their sacrifice will serve the greater good.”
Finch blanched, visibly shaken, but a firm nod from Yutani ended any further protest. He hurried off to make the arrangements, leaving Yutani alone with David.
Once they were alone, David dropped the guise. His demeanor shifted subtly, from Walter’s clinical professionalism to something colder, more arrogant. His voice softened, each word measured with a quiet reverence.
“Ms. Yutani,” he began, his eyes gleaming with calculated pride, “you’ve done well in aiding this endeavor. I commend your understanding and your willingness to work with my creations.”
Yutani tilted her head, studying him as if she suspected something deeper at play. “I have to admit, David, I’m curious. What’s your ultimate plan here?” Her tone was neutral, but her gaze was sharp, probing.
