The group moved swiftly down the dim corridors of the station, their footsteps echoing in the eerie silence. The air was thick with tension as J, Hecate, Yutani, and Decker made their way toward the comms room. Every shadow seemed to hide something monstrous, every distant clank or hiss in the air causing their hearts to beat faster.
Decker’s eyes stayed on the path ahead, his grip tightening on his pistol. "Stay sharp," he muttered, more to himself than anyone else. They all knew the danger lurking in the station—the Xenomorphs weren’t just predators. They were the perfect hunters. And the hunters were everywhere.
Suddenly, Yutani's sharp intake of breath broke the quiet. "Hey, there's a gun," she said, pointing toward a weapon lying discarded on the floor just a few feet from them.
Decker glanced over. "I’ve already got a pistol," he grunted, not taking his eyes off the route ahead.
J, ever practical and clearly not in the mood for distractions, raised a digital eyebrow at Yutani. "And I'm literally a living weapon, remember?"
Yutani gave them both a slightly annoyed look, rolling her eyes. "Yeah, but still. It's not far, right? Five feet away. What’s the harm in grabbing it? It could come in handy."
Decker and J exchanged glances, and even Hecate, the silent observer, looked a little uneasy. J shook her head. "I don’t care if it’s five inches away. We don’t split up. Not here. Not now."
Yutani frowned but reluctantly backed down as they reached the comms room. They stepped inside, the large, metallic door sliding shut behind them with a heavy thunk. The room was dimly lit by the faint, flickering lights from the various monitors. It felt safe, but that feeling never lasted long in a place like this.
"Alright," Decker said as he moved to the central console. His fingers flew over the keys as he accessed the station’s systems, setting the emergency evacuation protocols and initiating the self-destruct sequence. He glanced at the countdown as the timer appeared on the screen: one hour. "That should give us plenty of time to get to the ship and wait for the others."
"Good," J said, though there was no relief in her voice. Her eyes and optics scanned the room, her senses sharp for any sign of danger. Hecate stayed close, gripping her arm. Even if she didn’t say anything, it was clear the kid was scared.
Then, out of nowhere, there was a soft clink from somewhere outside the room. It was faint, barely noticeable, but it was enough to send a shiver down J’s metal spine. They weren’t alone.
Decker’s face tightened. "What was that?"
Yutani’s gaze darted to the door. "I’m going to grab that gun," she said abruptly, already heading toward the exit.
"Wait, no!" Decker snapped, alarm flashing across his face. "We just agreed—"
"I’ll be back in five seconds, Decker! Just seal the door when I get back!" Yutani insisted, her voice carrying an edge of panic as she pushed past them and sprinted out the door.
The others protested, but it was too late. The door slid open and Yutani darted into the hallway, her eyes locked on the discarded gun just a few feet away. She reached it in seconds, crouching down and grabbing it in her hand.
But she didn’t see the tail lowering behind her.
A shadow loomed over her, impossibly large and unnervingly silent. The Xenomorph's long, black tail coiled above her head like a serpent, then struck out with lightning speed. The sharp end pierced through the back of her neck, severing her spine with a sickening crack.
Yutani collapsed forward onto her stomach, her body completely paralyzed, her mind racing as the realization hit her. She tried to scream, to call out to the others, but nothing came out. She could only watch, helpless, as the Xenomorph slithered down from the ceiling, landing with grace and deadly precision just in front of her.
